With one look, Brooke knows that she cant fight the desire that pulled them together before, despite the skeletons in both their closets.

Leif Montgomery fell hard for Brooke Alder in Paris when they were young, and he thought their fling was just an early taste of what life had in store for him.

But life had other plans, and he didn't find that kind of love—or see Brookes face—for years.

Until he visits his cousins house and sees whos moved in next door.

They've both changed: she's a struggling single mom, he's running from a past he's trying to hide while opening up a new tattoo shop. Yet the moment he sees her again, he knows she's the one for him.

There is so much familial love, support, understanding and thoughtfulness that it's very clearly fiction. I'm sure most people have never even *seen* this kind of closeness. And sometimes books like this make you reexamine your own life and relationships.

As for the performance, I'm a big fan of the male narrator but found the female voice too fluctuating, like a news broadcaster, almost. I can get past that sometimes but other times it gets distracting and I need to go back to reread the last sentence or two. I split the difference when it came to the rating.

Such a large, yet close family

This book has interesting story and character ideas. Some of it is well written while other parts of the book don’t flow very well. (E.G. some of the character movements and transition between story logistics and emotion) Actually, there is a lack of emotional layering. The story is told but the emotions of the character aren’t really conveyed and felt by myself the listener. The narration was good and provided emotional context. The name of the hero in this book is pronounced differently than it is in the next book. I’m not sure if that’s narration or an editing issue.
