À propos de cet audio
On a chilly November afternoon in 1998, a tearful 36-year-old man walked into the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department in Eureka, California, and confessed to something horrible.
"I hurt some people," he said. Inside his pocket was the ghastly proof of his statement. But there was more to Wayne Adam Ford than the trail of mangled victims he left behind. More, even, than the twisted predator inside, which drove him to increasingly perverse sexual appetites.
Pulitzer-nominated author Caitlin Rother draws on previously sealed testimony, interviews with the key players in the case, and the killer's shocking confession to explore the demons that drove a damaged man to his unspeakable crimes. Her book is a haunting, unforgettable true-life thriller.

Incredibly Graphic - But Captivating
Caitlin Rother relates the jawdropping story of California sexual sadist serial killer Wayne Adam Ford - who turned himself in to police because he "didn't want to hurt anyone any more".. with a human breast in a baggie as proof of his crimes.
The research surrounding his victims, those who got away, and family (particularly Ford's brother) is outstanding - providing unsurpassed background. Rother's coverage of the trial is likewise related with a feeling of behind-the-scenes authenticity. The documentary quality of the book is impressive.
Unfortunately, the author is awkward when discussing the players: imbuing even the most peripheral/tangential figure with extensive biographical information.. or inserting name after name without any background at all. Trying to keep the narrative straight got to be challenging at times.
Despite that limitation (and uncomfortably near-pornographic detail), however, this is a praiseworthy True Crime effort.
As to presentation: Reader Laural Merlington is more than capable. Her diction, cadence, pacing, and tone are unimpeachable.. but her voice-acting includes indistinctive interpretations and her occasionally quavering/gravelly reading timbre takes getting used to. Tantor Audio Inc. cast this project "adequately" (had they selected another professional, we would have seen a similarly effective performance).
In toto, 'Body Parts' is a viscerally disturbing exposé about a disgusting series of crimes. It is not for the faint of heart - and don't you dare listen to this with underage kids around - but it rates 8.5/10 stars. If you can get it as a 'Plus' selection, do not hesitate. It would even merit a Credit if they asked.
