À propos de cet audio
Britain fought a war from 1754-1763 to protect its American colonies from France. During it Britain poured money into New England to build industries to supply it forces fighting France in North America, and New England’s industries grew. Britain’s conquest of New France led to revolution in the American colonies.
By 1777, few Americans supported revolution. It was kept going by French money given to revolutionary leaders. Patrick Henry wanted independence from Britain, but did not want Virginia to join the United States because he objected to powers the Constitution gives presidents. Bloody frontier fighting followed and another war with Britain began in 1812. During it, New England helped Britain and threatened to secede.
Throughout the period there were massacres by Indians and Americans and continual American expansion into Indian land. By 1815, when war with Britain ended, the new nation had been born in blood.
