À propos de cet audio
Fresh from maternity leave, Detective Elma finds herself confronted with a complex case, when a man is found murdered in a holiday cottage in the depths of the Icelandic countryside - the victim of a frenzied knife attack, with a shocking message scrawled on the wall above him.
At home with their baby daughter, Sævar is finding it hard to let go of work, until the chance discovery in a discarded box provides him with a distraction. Could the diary of a young boy, detailing the events of a long-ago summer have a bearing on Elma's case?
Once again, the team at West Iceland CID have to contend with local secrets in the small town of Akranes, where someone has a vested interest in preventing the truth from coming to light. And Sævar has secrets of his own that threaten to destroy his and Elma's newfound happiness.

Old journal, dark secrets. I’m hooked!
Unexpected terrific listen. A bit slow to start, due in part to Icelandic names foreign to my ear, but well worth the listen! A town filled with lively characters who seem to live, breath as you listen. There’s the ex police chief, now retired, a bully, the town drunk,an old lady who’s amassed great wealth running a modest dry cleaning business. It appears likely that there’s more than laundering shirts involved. Her son is murdered, and the quest for answers is on. The town seems filled with friendly neighbours who abuse children, domestic violence is the norm among many families. But the social and financial status must be maintained, no matter who pays the price. Therefore dark, grim secrets must be, literally, swept under rugs, never disclosed until 2 young women come to town to find out what happened 25 years ago at a teens summer camp when an initiation prank went horribly wrong. Can’t hide murder forever. Loved this authors skilled plotting, many layers of nastiness revealed in town folk! Looking forward to reading rest of series, starting now.. Narration is first rate esp. with unusual names.
