good characters and world-building

some of you might be saying: what world-building? it's set in the real world. and it is, but it also provides what you might describe as a character sketch of both Detroit Michigan and Birmingham Alabama with the types of places they are, the history they hold, and how that effects who the characters are. the plot was complex without being too unwieldy.

I definitely also want to see more of Charlie's journey of self-acceptance and coming out and how things play out with her love interest Mandy.

The narration was a bit too dry for me with too much recitation and not enough acting for my tastes.
