Baked goods
The mystery itself is quite okay it the number of recipes distracts from the story. The recipes the, selves sound tasty but I found they dragged the story onto almost losing interestin the story.

Series is tiresome. Anti-fat bias STRONG.
When I start a series, I try to stick with it. These books are compelling with the added recipes throughout... this sparked my interest. The repetitiveness of the "murder" and "story" formulae is exhausted at this point.
The anti-fat bias is consistent. In a series that is around a 'heroine' who owns a bakery... it's a bit much.
When the first guest author at the end of the book started in on it, I had had enough. I turned it off.
It's to the point of obsessive the way Joanne Fluke references weight, it is beyond having an agitating character who mentions it. It is mentioned in every chapter, by numerous characters, and is never dismissed as inappropriate or unwanted commentary. It's the tertiary theme in a murder/mystery with recipes. (Think about that for a second. This book has so-called romantic interests, yet weight is more consistently addressed than any of these romantic interests.)
What is this, the ninth book? I just can't anymore. The toxicity has exhausted my tolerance.
