À propos de cet audio
In this novel authorized by the Little House estate, Sarah Miller vividly recreates the beauty, hardship, and joys of the frontier in a dazzling work of historical fiction, a captivating story that illuminates one courageous, resilient, and loving pioneer woman as never before - Caroline Ingalls, Ma in Laura Ingalls Wilder's beloved Little House books.
In the frigid days of February 1870, Caroline Ingalls and her family leave the familiar comforts of the Big Woods of Wisconsin and the warm bosom of her family for a new life in Kansas Indian Territory. Packing what they can carry in their wagon, Caroline, her husband, Charles, and their little girls, Mary and Laura, head west to settle in a beautiful, unpredictable land full of promise and peril.
The pioneer life is a hard one, especially for a pregnant woman with no friends or kin to turn to for comfort or help. The burden of work must be shouldered alone, sickness tended without the aid of doctors, and babies birthed without the accustomed hands of mothers or sisters. But Caroline's new world is also full of tender joys. In adapting to this strange new place and transforming a rough log house built by Charles' hands into a home, Caroline must draw on untapped wells of strength she does not know she possesses.
For more than 80 years, generations have been enchanted by the adventures of the American frontier's most famous child, Laura Ingalls Wilder, in the Little House books. Now that familiar story is retold in this captivating tale of family, fidelity, hardship, love, and survival that vividly reimagines our past.

pretty bland and mediocre
I only finished it because I paid for it but it wasn't my favourite. compared to the Laura Ingalls books it's not nearly as interesting or well written. It's also got some more adult themes which makes sense for the book but I chose to skip over 1 or 2 parts that made me mildly uncomfortable. I enjoyed some parts, like the action in the river and the grass fire. living in an area where there is a risk of prairie fires myself I found it fascinating to think about how they might've tackled a grass fire in the days before modern firefighters. however I could've found that information from a quick Google search or a trip to a pioneer museum so if you're interested, I'd suggest doing that instead of buying this book. I also didn't enjoy Caroline's character. I'm not sure what the author missed but she doesn't feel like the Caroline I know of.
As a note of preference, the voices of Mary and Laura were absolutely grating. It was tolerable but really not enjoyable at all. 1/10 Charles wasn't much better and his voice was devoid of all emotion in favour of attempting to sound a little more manly.

Could have been so much better
The writer is good and the narrator is good, so it’s a shame this audiobook was not good. As a fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder, I was cautiously optimistic yet was disappointed. As a critic, I have concerns with both the writing and the narrating. The story fails to hit the right notes and it’s unapologetically prejudiced against “the Indians” of whom the title character is terrified. To carry a drama so dependent on a pre-existing fan base and so devoid of plot, the narrator needed to understand the key theme of human survival against the elements as well as convey the title character’s array of emotions and states of mind.

It is fine.
I had high expectations. This did not meet them. The original story by Laura Ingalls Wilder is far superior. Disappointing.

Depressing
It just seems depressing. Both the narration and the story line. I'm only a few chapters in but not sure I want to finish it. Disappointing
