Luke Roberts came to the small, lazy town of Kilgore, Texas, with one thing on his mind: forgetting. He wanted to forget why he left. Forget those emerald green eyes that haunted his dreams. Reese Doherty was just trying to do the best for her little girl. So she moved to the little boomtown nearly an hour from where she grew up to be the school nurse for Kilgore's littlest people. That's where she met him. The SWAT officer, the man that would change her life forever.

But Luke was a hero. A man used to risking his life to make the world a safer place. Something Reese had to decide whether she could handle or not. Preferably before her and her daughter became too attached.

Just when she was ready to give him her whole heart, her world took a huge hit, and everything she thought she knew wasn't as it seemed.

Luke wasn't a quitter, though. Damn far from it, and he'd prove to her that he'd be there when the dust settled.

As a rule, I'm not that fan of books with children in them, however, I really liked this one. The plot was super interesting and developed into something that I like a lot - romance mixed with some mystery and action. The narrators were simply perfect and I had a wonderful time listening to this book.

Female narator's voice gives the feeling of a nice little warm romantic comedy for a cold evening even though the booked is marked as a romantic suspense. Not a bad thing per se. Just my review

I love single parent stories and mixed in with an alpha protector and I'm good.

I thought Luke and Reese were a great couple and I loved the girls. Of course the spicy scenes were just hot enough for the story.

My favorite part had to be rhe epilogue and the letters. So fun.

The narrators were spot on and I thought they paired well together. Im excited to read the rest of this series.

I don't feel these narrators were the best fit for the book. They were generally okay but not for me. I rated SO low because I had high hopes for this story. I've read many books by this author, but I couldn't get into this one nearly as much, and I believe it's mostly because of the narration.

It wasn't just the narration though. As I stated in the title, this is not favorite work of Lani Lynn Vale. I have *thoroughly* enjoyed the Bear Bottom Guardians MC Series (narrated by Aiden Snow and Kendall Taylor) though and I didn't feel like the stories in that series lacked the way they do in this book.

In this book, the story felt a little... flat.

And the characters were unnecessarily immature (especially for parents). I would have really liked to hear Nico's story in the second book but if the description is anything to go by, I don't have the urge to purchase book #2 if it's written like this one.

Not my favorite work by this author - the BBG MC Series is so much better
