This covers a lot of territory. It's a young adult fantasy on the lines of Harry Potter, only backwards, with a lot of Upstairs, Downstairs thrown in for complication.

more sophisticated writing and less formulaic writing that Harpers halfmoon hollow series. This story has some interesting world building and draws on Harper's skill with dialogue. Her characters even have more depth. I enjoyed it.
