À propos de cet audio
In a shocking scandal, the likes of which has not been seen in the English aristocracy since the 18th century, the Duke of Denver stands accused of the foul murder or his sister's fiancé, shot through the heart on a cold, lonely night at Riddlesdale Hall in Yorkshire. The duke's brother, Lord Peter Wimsey, attempts to prove Denver's innocence, but why is the duke refusing to cooperate? And what does his sister, Lady Mary, know about the affair? Trying to reveal the truth, Wimsey uncovers a web of lies and deceit within the family and finds himself faced with the unhappy alternative of sending either his brother or his sister to the gallows - until he himself becomes a target.

Delightful!
This was sheer delight. Dorothy Sayers, at her witty best; and, as always with this reader, a first class performance. Highly recommended. Thank you audible.

Mystery
I enjoy these old mysteries they are involved in theme and use their mind to solve cases ,not guns .and the detectives are created as real people,

Classic who-done-it
Classic can also be interpreted as "dated," but as compared to other mysteries of similar vintage, it has aged very well indeed.
The following has little bearing on the plot:
It is interesting to note that while Sayers was keenly aware of the inequities of gender discrimination in her time, much of the discrimination due to economic class distinctions are accepted and documented rather than discussed. She does make some special note of the ridiculousness of the aristocracy and the snobbery of inheritance verses capitalist success.
Sayers characters are for the most part well developed and interesting, and each is given a distinct voice through her writing.
Ian Carmichael's narration is delightful though sometimes overly dramatic, particularly when voicing minor characters--he is prone to convey all of the emotion of a passage while using such an obtuse accent as to render the actual content unintelligible. He at least refrains from speaking in an actual whisper when directed to do so by the text--inaudible audio books not being particularly useful.
The recording quality is excellent.

Enjoyable
Enjoyable but I occasionally found the accents and words hard to follow - more because I’m not used to them not because they weren’t appropriate to the story - perhaps easier to read the story because it’s definitely a classic
