Beautiful
A dark romance, yes. The one sweet/light part made me cry and that doesn’t happen for me with books like this generally.

That was amazing
Wow just wow 🤯 what a wild ride! Honestly from the start to the finish of this book I was so emerged into this work they were living in!
The book starts off with a young 20 something year old Adam who has come into lots of money after his father’s death. The money wasn’t earned from a normal 5-9 job but his father was an original member of a super elite group that breed and brainwashed children into super soldiers.
Adam is on the island to buy a person, all seem to be female & most seem to be blonde hair with blue eyes. There’s over 20 yet only 2 are still virgins so we know lots have been sexually abused & most who are bought are being bought for very sick reasons.
Adam buys Indie Anna she’s only 10 and lucky enough to have not been raped, but they call her a failure so she’s not shown off with the others and she’s in a small cage being swallowed by an anaconda.
He takes her home to a hidden estate in the swamp country of Louisiana with no one around for miles besides for a small broken down house at the very edge of the property where someone who use to work for the family was given the home. Inside we’re told it’s just a very old man slowly dying and his grandson who’s only a year older than Indie. He becames her best friend & entire world.
When she’s not hanging out with the boy next door she’s training with McKay, he baths her, feeds her, teaches language’s & fighting skills. Everything he was taught as Adam’s double (he was bought as a child by Adam’s dad to be his double because the elite have identical twins but his died as a baby)
McKay helps to raise Indie for 10 years. Even when she was a teenager and she made advances on him he refused until her 20th birthday and I’m so happy this author didn’t have these men be in a sexual relationship with her until she was older!!!
Donovan is only 5 years older than Indie and we met him in the beginning of the book when he tried to convince Adam to buy her. He was 15 yet crazy smart he was already about to start medical school! His father told him his twin died but he knew it was a lie and he found proof in some of Indie’s brainwashing his brother has a certain signature. Donovan only see’s Indie once a month for a while then only after she comes back from a mission. He makes recordings of all their therapy sessions hoping it will help one day.
Things don’t add up Indie keeps going missing or she forgets things, she also got pregnant by the boy next door when she was 17. (Yet it was from behind so she didn’t see his face & at the end were told he wasn’t the father)
She has a daughter and Adam threatened the boy next door and he thought he was gone but a couple years later when he showed up at the house to take his daughter to the zoo the guys find out She’s been meeting with him.
She drugged her 3 men on her 20th birthday after her daughter went to the zoo, she was hoping to lower their inhibitions and have sex him them all after all these years. But things go wrong Donovan’s twin brother has been brainwashing her over the years and he tried to get her to kill her three men. Things didn’t go well though when her daughter was brought back from the zoo and her daughter ate poison ☠️ berries.
They don’t see each other for 4 years after her 20th birthday, until she walks back into their lives and they try to figure out where she’s been and what went wrong.
Adam had actually been raising her daughter these past 4 years and the other men thought she was dead. They decided to try to be the family they always wanted but after a few months they got a surprise birthday card for their daughter by Donovan’s brother saying he’s the actual father!
What a book! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!!!

WOW!
This book had so many twists it keeps you on your toes!
Follow it closely in some areas or you may get lost but off to get the next book in the series!

I’m hooked
This book felt strange at first but it drew me in. I’m officially hooked on this series. Really good narration and voice acting.

Twisted and mysterious
You never know quite what way is up or down. This story keeps you guessing. Very well performed by all. Doesn’t really have a resolution at the end, so it is very unsatisfying. Just leads to another book. Seems like part I of something, I am not sure I want to dive into a whole series of tangled storylines. It may not be for me.

What did I listen to??
I chose this book because its part of the plus catalogue and I really like 2 of the narrators.
This story is all kinds of f@$!ked. Children being auctioned off, mind control, a love ... square. There are 5 of them in varying degrees of togetherness. Weird. This book was weird and made me uncomfortable at times. Definitely the most bizarre listen I've heard in a long time.
