À propos de cet audio

Humanity is fighting against an implacable foe. The Ghasts - a ruthless alien race - seem hell-bent on wiping out mankind. They have a vast warfleet and their technology is advancing at a terrible rate.

Captain John Nathan Duggan and his crew are given a mission - find the missing ESS Crimson and bring it home. Little does Duggan realize, this is no ordinary mission. As he struggles against enemies both within and without, he desperately tries to unlock the mystery surrounding the Crimson's disappearance and the unknown weapons it carries. He soon discovers the missing warship might be the only hope for salvation that mankind has left.

When everything is veiled in secrecy nothing is easy, as Duggan is about to find out.

I enjoyed this book and will continue on with the series. Semi original storyline was believable and well thought out in my opinion. Great read!

awesome space battles

This Anthony James story drops us in the middle of a massive interstellar war between humanity and aliens called "Ghasts". A mysteriously overpowered abandoned spacecraft that was lost early in the war needs to be recovered and Terran forces send Captain John Nathan Duggan & his crew to accomplish the mission.
James writes set-piece space combat extraordinarily well - and his vocabulary/prose is more than capable - but I found the plot slow-moving and characterization & dialogue in the book unimpressive. My mind wandered annoyingly frequently.

As to presentation: Neil Hellegers provides solidly professional reading - backed up by creditable technical support from Tantor Audio sound engineers - but nothing particularly spectacular. Don't get me wrong, the delivery is very good - barring oddly unemotive pacing during action scenes - just nothing that blew me away.

Altogether, 'Crimson Tempest: Survival Wars Book One' rates 6.5/10 stars. It was an entertaining distraction for free.. but better options are available for your Credit when they ask for one.

[Note: this book ends with one heck of a cliffhanger. Be aware that you will feel pressured to continue with the series]

Passable Epic SciFi
