À propos de cet audio
Written during his time in Reading Gaol, De Profundis is Oscar Wilde's moving letter to Lord Alfred Douglas, whose relationship with Wilde led to the poet's imprisonment. Here Wilde repudiates Lord Alfred and reflects on his ordeal, acknowledging how the depths of his sorrow have helped liberate him toward a fuller, freer wisdom. Brimming with beautiful passages, De Profundis is a profound and inspiring treatise on the meaning of suffering. De Profundis is introduced by Oscar Wilde's grandson, Merlin Holland.

Devastatingly profound
De Profundis, or ‘from the depths’ is a long letter by Oscar Wilde to his former love interest and a prime character in his downfall. Written from prison, Wilde pours out his bitter heart with such insight that it can’t but help leave you numb. The prose are from a professional wordsmith, though there is much poetry within also. The narration is beautiful, and it is easy to imagine the reading is by Oscar himself. I had read this years ago, but listening to the Audible, #Audible 1, version brought it all back during my long country walks. Totally enjoyable.
