À propos de cet audio
The tragic death of 13-year-old Danny Croteau in 1972 faded from headlines and memories for 20 years until the Boston abuse scandal - a string of assaults taking place within the Catholic Church - exploded in the early 2000s. Despite numerous indications, including 40 claims of sexual misconduct with minors, pointing to him as Croteau's killer, Reverend Richard R. Lavigne remains "innocent."
Drawing on more than ten thousand pages of police and court findings and interviews with Danny's friends and family, fellow abuse victims, and church officials, the author uncovers the truth - church complicity in the cover-up and masking of priests' involvement in a ring of abusive clergy - behind Croteau's death and those who had a hand in it.

Broad Scope - Executed Well
This book goes far beyond a straightforward discussion of Father Richard Levigne's pedophilic crimes against trusting children & their families in the 60s and 70s (or even his likely 1972 murder of Danny Croteau)..
Rather, E.J. Fleming provides a well-written extensively researched exposé of Pedophilia as an illness, the nauseating existence & practices of Pedophile rings, and policies within the Catholic Church and Boy Scouts Of America that enabled such crimes in their midst (The Croteau murder mostly serves as a foundational case to inform the book's themes). The result is a sometimes disturbing, often infuriating, endlessly eye-opening cautionary tale.
I have never heard reading from Peter Berkrot before but can honestly say that I would do so again.
The narration in this recording is outstanding - with truly commendable diction, timbre, cadence, and tone. Blackstone Audio Inc. cast the book nicely and provide creditable technical support.
Taken altogether, this audiobook rates 9.5 stars out of 10. Even if it weren't offered as part of the 'Plus' catalogue, 'Death Of An Altar Boy' would merit a download. If - as I did - you can get it as part of your membership, it's a no-brainer.

Important story
The story is important and very insightful. The manner in which it was written makes it a bit hard to follow and stay interested.
At the end of day it’s imperative these stories are told and have a platform. Thank you for sharing his story.
