It is refreshing to hear an author gives his own voice to his characters. I was a bit taken aback by the slow pace of the story at first ( like the last book), however I'm so invested now. There are a few cliche characters for sure, a shouty gunnery sergent, the bad boy marine, an inexperienced NCO, scary aliens, macabre scenes of ancient death. And I love it! i HAVE to listen to book 3 now !
