Description

Cal and his brothers turned their backs on the family business over a hundred years ago. Hell is tired of waiting for them to return.

Cal

I’ve never wanted a relationship—especially not with a human. With my father demanding my return to Hell and a demon leaving dead bodies in my bookshop, now is not the time to lose my heart.

One look in Oscar’s broken eyes, and I know I’m in trouble. Oscar’s been hurt before, and everything in me screams to keep him safe. How can I do that when I know being with me will only put him in more danger?

More importantly, am I strong enough to walk away from him?

Oscar

After escaping my last relationship with broken bones and an anxiety disorder, I’m tired of living half a life. My world revolves around my classroom, flat, and best friend. When fate throws Cal in my path, he seems too good to be true. He looks like he’s been pulled from my fantasies, and my baggage doesn’t scare him. Ok, so there’s the tiny issue of him being a demon, but I’ve dealt with far scarier.

I’ve been broken once before, and I don’t think I’d survive it again. Can I let down my barriers enough to let Cal in?

Devil’s Mark is the first in The Reckless Damned series but can be enjoyed as a standalone. It contains mature content.

So damn good!

New to me author, such a great story! A little bit of angst, some mystery and family fighting to stay together. Joel Leslie and Dan Calley were amazing together!
Can’t wait to get into the next story!
Highly recommend!

Cal & Oscar

This book was exactly what I needed and was looking for. I love the fated mates concept and Devil’s Mark delivered.

Oscar is a teacher and went through a domestic violence trauma not so long ago. He is dealing with the anxiety and fear that result from having lived through that. His friend, Bailey, encourages him to come out with him to a club where he meets Cal, the sexy Tom Ellis lookalike. Oscar was a great character. He dealt with the discovery of the supernatural world like a champ. I loved how, even after his trauma, he kept fighting because he knew he still had plenty of things in his life that were worth it.

Cal is a prince of Hell who is now living amongst humans. He owns a bookstore and spends time with two of his brothers. I absolutely loved his character. Let me tell you that if all demons are like him, sign me up. He was so attentive to Oscar’s needs and I loved that there was no judgement on his part when Oscar was having panic attacks after something triggered his anxiety. He did research to better understand how he could help Oscar get through them. He was so patient with Oscar, answering all his questions and making sure that accepting their bond was a choice. He really just wanted him to be happy.

“You don’t want to get off the sofa? I’ll sit with you. You’re having an anxiety attack? I’ll talk you through it. No matter what you’re thinking or going through, I’ll be at your side. Nothing about you can scare me away. That’s the good thing about demons. Your darkness cannot contend with mine.”

I loved how each side character was introduced and knowing some of them will have their own story. Harlow was my favourite. I mean his introduction was literally him saying “morning, my fellow fire-breathing bitch queens!” Who wouldn’t love him 😅. He was funny but could also have difficult conversations and tell you how it is. I CAN’T WAIT to start reading his book. Bailey was also one of my favourite characters. He was an amazing friend to Oscar and always made sure to tell him how strong and fierce he was after surviving his trauma.
