At a campus party, Sabrina Lind, a freshman at Harvard, meets Donovan, her teacher’s assistant and it’s not a lovey-dovey meet-cute at all. They make quite an impression on each other and unbeknownst the other person, they can’t help thinking about and dreaming of each other.
Jump 10 years ahead where Sabrina is hired in the marketing department at REACH, a topnotch company where Donovan is one of the presidents. While Sabrina is trying to prove herself and the quality work she provides, she’s also trying to not get distracted by Donovan, who by the way does NOT make it easier.
The story is mixed with some secrets, twists, and a lot of sexual tension intermingled. Donovan is an arrogant, broody bully - I won’t lie. He pushes Sabrina to the limits but she takes it. He gives her the runaround but she embraces it and craves even more. Yeah - I didn’t resonate with that at all BUT as you weave through all the drama, you see that Donovan and Sabrina are both trapped in a different kind of darkness - and it is each other that is there for the saving. The book ends in a cliffhanger as Donovan needs to do something that will pave the road for healing, closure, and a HEA.
The audiobook with Elena Wolfe is the perfect Sabrina. As she narrates this one POV, we truly get in the head of the heroine.
