À propos de cet audio
Welcome to a new series by nationally best-selling author Elizabeth Johns. Enjoy the extraordinary tale of four Knight brothers, and one little sister in the Gentlemen of Knights.
Can a sharp-tongued governess become indispensable to a duke?
Rowley Knight, Duke of Knighton, is too busy being a duke to bother with such nonsense as love. With three heirs, he is in no hurry whatsoever to succumb to the lures of the leg-shackles. He is content managing his siblings and estates, and avoiding society whenever possible. If he can only find someone to manage his young sister, life can go back to its proper order.
Emma Lancaster's father gambled away her family's fortune leaving her hopes for a respectable marriage shattered. Destitute and near desperate, she accepts a position as a governess to a young lady at the recommendation of her godmother. Little does she know that her charge is the brother of the man she despises. Can she humble herself to become his employee? Or will her temper get the best of her - and him?

Promising, but Falls Short in Key Moments
This is a story with great potential, offering a blend of romance and intrigue, supported by characters who initially capture the reader's interest. The book is also a clean read, which will appeal to those who prefer a love story without explicit content.
However, the story falls short in some areas. One such instance is when Emma heals the Duke's brother with a simple poultice, despite the doctor having worked on the wound for days without success. This moment feels rushed and underdeveloped, diminishing the tension and realism that could have made the scene more impactful.
Also, the romantic development between the main characters feels lacking. Their feelings for each other aren't fully explored or developed throughout the book. Instead, they seem to suddenly be in love by the end, which makes the romance feel somewhat unearned and abrupt.
Alex Wyndham's narration adds a touch of elegance to the audiobook, but it also has its drawbacks. While his voice is beautiful, his portrayal of female characters lacks the same depth and nuance as his male characters. Also, only a couple of his male voices stand out as particularly well-done.
Overall, Duke of Knight has its charms but could benefit from more thorough development in both the plot and the characters' relationship.
