Description

The entire best-selling Dungeon World series is now together in one volume!

This Dungeon World Series Box Set includes:

Dungeon World, Books 1-5
Bonus short story

In a world five times larger than Earth, dungeons and their Dungeon Cores have become the top of the food chain.

Millions of dungeons inhabit the planet, utilizing the Human people as a source of much-needed Mana to facilitate their own growth; in turn, the humans delve into the dungeons to acquire their own power in the form of Essence, which allows them to develop and enhance themselves in a multitude of different ways. It is a symbiotic relationship that has lasted thousands of years and has brought about a measure of peace.

Far in the northern wilds where no Humans (and therefore - no dungeons) regularly frequent, a young man is left alone when his parents are suddenly murdered. Now, without friends, family, supplies, or even much knowledge of the wider world, Fredwynklemossering embarks on a journey to discover who - or what - killed his parents. Along the way, however, he learns more than he bargained for, including his seemingly impossible status as a Dungeon Core/Human hybrid. With that knowledge comes a shift in his objective; revenge against those who wronged him turns out to pale in comparison to the dangers the Humans will face in the future.

Will Fred be able to successfully straddle the line between the Human and Dungeon Core worlds? Unfortunately, he’ll have to, or else the entire Dungeon World may be doomed....

Contains 564,000 words, LitRPG/GameLit elements such as statistics and leveling, as well as dungeon construction and defense. No harems and no profanity.

If you like listening to stats. This is for you.

author pads the word count by taking several minutes to read out the mostly meaningless stats of the characters for several minutes at a time. making this story very very infuriating to listen to. keep the fast forward button handy. the rest of the story is average.

This has to be hands down the worst book I've ever read or listened to that mentions stats. no joke, the sats take several minutes to read out and they do it very often.

Meh, It's OK.

Like many others have said this book is filled with stats. The stats also don't provide much to the story so they're basically just annoying filler. The storyline itself was good but nothing very surprising or new when compared to other similar books that I've read.

Worth the listen, Long, well paced, decent

Yes its long. Yes it has lots of stats reading. But that's standard for this type of story and after the first book they mark it as a chapter so you can skip it if you want to.

I loved how it's a clean read. I can easily share this with my family or to other groups I hang out with. Though the romantic tensions that the author put in did feel... simple. I've read better books that were still clean but built up the connection between characters better. But this was still good.

I'd say the storey concept was excelent. A little different than the many other litrpg or dungeon books I've listened too. Yet had very similar structures. Things didn't drag on. Progress was measurable and consistent, and avoided giving the main character some OP thing that crushes all obstacles in the books. Yes there are things that I expected would be exploited to give them unfair advantages. But they were never given time to do that. Changes are forced upon the main character before it gets to the point that it feels like the author had to nurf them. The reason why our main character is special is well thought out and doesn't feel forced. The ending did push the bounds of being too OP but it works with the story line and history. I feel the whole thing was mapped out very well.

Now the actuall writing was good, but not as good as the story line I think. I didn't want to stop listening, but I also didn't connect with the characters. Audible has spoiled be for a good story and narator combo that can really get me attached, but this one doesn't quite do it. I liked it. I'll recommend it. It was good. It just wasn't specatcular in that aspect.

Maybe that's the Narator though. The narator seemed to improve after the first book or two. Was easy enough to listen to. Had decent voices. But didn't add anything to a voice when there was extreme emotion from a character. Still 4 stars in my book, since this is preferable to a narator that tries too hard with emotions and can become very distracting.

If you like stat blocks, this is the series for you!

I really gave it a good try to like this series, but I just couldn't finish past the middle of book 3. Between the endless stat blocks for "spells" and "abilities" and entire chapter breaks to read off a character sheet this was the worst sort of crunchy stats ever. I am sure some folks love hearing spell details and skill blocks read, but I will save that for when I look up things for D&D. Beyond that the dialogue is wooden and characters stunted - the relationships read like something from a game developer prior to creative and marketing fixing it from holder text to something remotely close to interesting. The main female character catch phrase is "I won't let you kill the man I love" and appears every few chapters. All in all, I found this painful and after 23 of almost 54 hours have given up. Godspeed to ye who enter here...

Good opening, too many stats.

4 minutes and 20 seconds, that's how long I timed one of the EVER MANY stats explaining sections. You will literally spend hours listening to the narrator spew off the stats once every, what, 20 minutes or so... absolutely bonkers.
