The city of the gods. Elantris once stood as the symbol of all that is beautiful. A sprawling metropolis of unrivaled grandeur, it was a symbol of power and strength, built to be as imposing as it was magnificent.
The only thing more glorious than the city itself was its inhabitants, Godlike beings, with silvery skin and hair of the purest, flowing white. Able to create powerful magics with a mere wave of their hands, the Elantrians were able to heal mortal wounds and create any object they desired. To be an Elantrian was to be without sickness, without pain and without want.
And anyone could become a god. Through a process known as the "Shaod",a normal person could go to bed one night and awake the next morning to throw away the shackles of mortality and become a being of incomparable power and grace. With Elantris as their beacon, the light inside all humanity was allowed to shine, elevating it to new heights.
But Elantris fell...10years ago.

Great listen
The cast, music, and story were all phenomenal. The music and sound effects really added to the scenes and the voice actors were really well suited. Brandon Sanderson did a great job with the world building.

Amazing performance as someone who has read the book series listening to this while I work has made my days amazing. I really enjoyed this.

Very interesting concept of dramatized adaptation
At first I was annoyed by all the extra audio. There was music and background sounds (i.e. people walking or opening doors). I did get climatized after an hour, but the background music while narration was grating on me.
The story is actually really good and interesting along with the characters.
My only suggestion would be to remove the background music. I did enjoy the characters having a unique voice, made it a lot easier to follow who was talking. As well there was a better sense of the character coming through as they voice acted their part rather well.

as advertised, a movie in your mind
very good job with the music, sound effect and voices, after listening to leviathan wake where the narrator as the emotional range of a spoon and mc girlfriend as the same voice as mc, this book is told in a very refreshing way, also the story is decent so far and i hope they do stormlight archive this way it would be epic.

Amazing
I can't believe I waited this long to listen. I was reluctant, since a synopsis I read described the shaod as a magical disease, and I don't like stories about contagions, but it's not a contagion. Great characters, great story, interesting magic system, as expected from Sanderson.
The performance was masterful, as well. I loved the graphic audio format. The music, the sound effects, the experience was even better than a full cast, a movie in my mind indeed. My only complaint would be that the music was sometimes too loud, and in a couple parts where the characters were quiet, I had to skip back several times to hear what they said. The stage whispers were not perfect, whether that was due to the voice actors or unskilled sound balance.
I'll seek out graphic audio titles in the future, and I hope to visit the world of Elantris again (Yes, I've read The Emperor's Soul, you should, too.)

Amazing
More books should have dramatized adaptation !
It was an amazing experience I can wait to listen to the next 2 adaptations in the series 🙌🏽

too short
the story is interesting but the title is too short. very little happens in the first episode other than introducing the characters and setting. episode 2 should be good I hope.

a wall of sound.
I'm not sure why they thought playing the background sounds at the same volume as the narrator was a good idea but it was not. I cant even hear half of what is being said due to the stupid background effects that literally add nothing to the experience.
