À propos de cet audio
"Elvis, you and I know the truth and unfortunately you’re not here to set the record straight. With this book, I will try to.…"
Elvis Presley and Graceland were fixtures in the life of Ginger Alden, having been born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. But she had no idea that she would play a part in that enduring legacy - as Elvis Presley’s fiancée, and his last great love. For over three decades Ginger has held the truth of their relationship close to her heart. Now she shares her unique story, and while a lot has been written about the King, the Elvis we meet in this long-anticipated memoir is a revelation.
In her own words Ginger details their whirlwind romance - from first kiss to his stunning proposal of marriage. She details his exploration of Eastern religions, his perception of being a "legend", his devotion to family and friends, and her attempt to know the insular group surrounding Elvis. And for the very first time she talks about the devastating end of it all, and the 50,000 mourners and reporters who descended on Graceland in 1977, exposing Ginger to the reality of living in the spotlight of a short, yet immortal, life.
Above it all, Alden rescues Elvis from the hearsay, rumors, and tabloid speculations of his final year by shedding a frank yet personal light on a very public legend. From a unique and intimate perspective, she reveals the man - complicated, romantic, fallible, and human - behind the enduring myth, a superstar worshipped by millions, and loved by Ginger Alden.

In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir. A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved. Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them.

While scores of books have been written about Elvis Presley, this is the first meticulously researched biography of Tom Parker written by someone who knew him personally. And for anyone truly interested in the performer many consider the greatest and most influential of the 20th century, it is impossible to understand how Elvis came to be such a phenomenon without examining the life and mind of Parker, the man who virtually controlled Elvis' every move.

Destined to Die Young is the definitive examination of why the world lost Elvis Presley on August 16, 1977, when he was only 42 years old. Author Sally Hoedel has painstakingly researched the subject and offers factual and scientific data—plus never-before-published information she gained by interviewing people who personally knew Elvis—to support her claim that Elvis Presley was never going to live a long life.

Worth the wait!
I found this book to be a wonderful, and detailed account of what being around Elvis 24 hours a day would be like. I have read many things about Elvis Presley, but none have been as detailed as this. Thankyou Ginger, for sharing your beautiful memories of your time with Elvis, with us! And it was all that more special, to hear it in your own words!!

Must-Read for any Elvis fan!
I was so impressed by the detail that Ginger provided about Elvis’ final year. I applaud her for finally setting the story straight and opening up about her life and experiences with Elvis. It devastated me to hear of how she was treated immediately after his death and in the years that followed.
I really enjoyed hearing about her family and how they also loved Elvis and how kind and generous he was to them.
Thank you Ginger for a wonderful memoir! Even my kids loved listening along with me. We now want to plan a trip to Graceland!

A Fascinating look At The Last Months of Elvis’s Life
I enjoyed Ginger’s account of her short time with Elvis. There has been so much written about Elvis since his death. Ginger’s account is her memories of the nine months she spent with Elvis.
Elvis’ generosity to Ginger and her family is in accordance with so many reports of his kindness. Elvis enjoyed making people happy. It is very sad that he died before some of his wishes could be completes.
Ginger’s account of this last few months gives another look into Elvis’ life. I enjoy this book and recommend it to Elvis fans.

Elvis and Ginger
September, 2020
Its been 43 yrs Since Elvis died . I was so relieved to see that finally Ginger was able to have her personal side of her time with Elvis expressed. To me (for me ) out of all the trash and exaggerated information that has been told or printed about this man over the years this is the one person I wanted to hear from. Ginger's book answered many of my questions that I had for years. As much as I love Elvis's music and as an entertainer . I for one would have much preferred the human man he was. Everyone in life has there own view points and experience that they go through. Elvis was no exception to this. Everyone has there faults and bad choices in their lives. When i personally think of Elvis as the man im a little sad and angry. There were multiple people around him that were using this man (personally and professionally) as a "cash cow" for there employment and life styles they had. Finally when he met and finially fell in love with the lady that could share his personal interests and his personal self with, who wasn't looking for anything more then a genuine life and future with. Who excepted and loved then real man he was, it was all taken away in a blink of an eye. People were (and still are in many cases)so very nasty and hurtful to a woman whose only intentions were to love the man who she met and ultimately fell in love with. I personally feel Ginger and her Family were treated in the most horrible way anyone could be. As tragic as it was for Ginger to loose the man she loved.there for me is a very small cancelation that eventually she was able to find love and have the family she deserved.
Thank you Ginger for sharing your story with us.
God Bless u and Your wonderful family ....

This was so "Boring" & "Disgusting"
Ginger mostly talks about her family it seems than Elvis
She constantly "brags" about her gifts - rings furs clothes cars for all of her family too
There is no emotion in Ginger's Voice at all
Why would He/ Elvis do that for me?
I am so use to not having anything
I am not use to having such expensive things
I feel like a Princess
Elvis is taking me and my family to Vegas again
Does Elvis really love me?
Why does Priscilla call so much?
Why does Elvis still have photos of Linda Thompson?
Why does Linda call Elvis?
I don't think the "Guys" like me
Elvis says they would be "Jealous Of me"
Why does Elvis act so differently with the "Guys" than with me?
Why does Elvis call Linda & Priscilla to explain to me how to take care of him?
and on and on....... I had to stop in the middle of the book
I could not take no more of this whining bragging
Then her family sues ( not mentioned ) Vernon to finish the home ( Pool ) Elvis paid for..
She has nothing "Good" to say about anyone really only Larry Geller
Reported by those closest to Elvis they did not like Ginger
Vernon said in his 1978 Good Housekeeping Article
He never got to know her well
She was very quiet ( She was young )
He didn't give anything to Ginger because Elvis had given her very expensive gifts
Vernon did say they were engaged
Elvis showed his Daddy the ring
and I was excited just to see how his "Last Love" relationship went -- Then to find out too "The Guys" including Billy Smith never trusted her and SHE CALLED THE ESQUIRE OR ENQUIRER ABOUT ELVIS'S PASSING SO THEY SAID
