À propos de cet audio
From the macabre mind of a Bram Stoker Award-nominated author, this heart-pounding novel of horror and psychological suspense takes a ghost hunting reality TV crew into a world they could never have imagined.
Fade to Black is the newest hit ghost hunting reality TV show. Led by husband and wife team Matt and Claire Kirklin, it delivers weekly hauntings investigated by a dedicated team of ghost hunting experts.
Episode Thirteen takes them to every ghost hunter's holy grail: the Paranormal Research Foundation. This brooding, derelict mansion holds secrets and clues about bizarre experiments that took place there in the 1970s. It's also famously haunted, and the team hopes their scientific techniques and high tech gear will prove it. But as the house begins to reveal itself to them, proof of an afterlife might not be everything Matt dreamed of. A story told in broken pieces, in tapes, journals, and correspondence, this is the story of Episode Thirteen—and how everything went terribly, horribly wrong.
"An epistolary descent into a living nightmare . . . well-written and genuinely unsettling. Fans of paranormal documentaries, ghost-hunting shows, and found-footage horror will lose their minds over this one."—Kealan Patrick Burke, Bram Stoker Award winning author of Kin
“A beautiful Russian doll of a story… Episode Thirteen hooks you, creeps you out, and then it overwhelms you. It’s House of Leaves meets Haunting of Hill House, in all the best possible ways.”—Peter Clines, NYT bestselling author of The Broken Room

It’s the house of their dreams. Former marine Harry and his wife, Sasha, have packed up their life and their golden retriever, Dash, and fled the corporate rat race to live off the land in rural Idaho. Their breathtaking new home sits on more than forty acres of meadow, aspen trees, and pine forest in the Teton Valley. Even if their friends and family think it’s a strange choice for an up-and-coming pair of urban professionals, Harry and Sasha couldn’t be happier about the future they’re building, all by their lonesome.

Ana and Reid needed a lucky break. The horrifically complicated birth of their first child has left Ana paralyzed, bitter, and struggling: with mobility, with her relationship with Reid, with resentment for her baby. That's about to change with the words any New Yorker would love to hear—affordable housing lottery. They've won an apartment in the Deptford, one of Manhattan's most revered buildings. Reid dismisses disturbing events and Ana’s deep unease and paranoia as the price of living in New York—people are odd—but he can't explain the needle-like bite marks on the baby.

In June 1993, a group of young guerilla filmmakers spent four weeks making Horror Movie, a notorious, disturbing, art-house horror flick. The weird part? Only three of the film’s scenes were ever released to the public, but Horror Movie has nevertheless grown a rabid fanbase. Three decades later, Hollywood is pushing for a big budget reboot.

The Book is Far More Satisfying Than a TV Show
I guiltily admit to having watched a ghost hunter show or ten. Better yet are the ghost story programs. And then there is the science that debunks it all. Roll all that into a spiral to get this delightful tale. Good characters with believable drives and reaction make for a satisfying journey into the unbelievable.

What in the hell did I just read?! I had to back it up a few times to figure out what the hell just happened.
This was such a fun one to listen to. Especially if you love ghost hunting and epistolary format. I definitely never wanna hear that song ‘the groovy people are here’ ever again! 😂
Excellent cast. A little long towards the last 2hrs of the book, But highly recommend it.

Not Scary.
I got this book as it came highly recommended as an intensely scary book. I'm not sure those readers normally read, but this was in no way scary. Also hard to listen to because of the constant sound effects.

I listened to this while reading along with the book, and I cannot believe how much fun I had! I absolutely recommend doing it this way. I ended up reading almost all 400+ pages in a day! The performances were great and made me feel like I was watching an 8 hour movie. I’m honestly sad it’s over!

One voice actor annoyed me, all others were great.
The voice acting for Claire is a highly forced, nasal valley girl accent with vocal fry and strong semblance. Ugh. Keep vocal fry and strong semblance out of audiobooks. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way.
Voice actors for all other characters were great.
The story is not fast paced and I wasn't really eager to restar my listening sessions. the story was a new and unique theme for an audiobook in my experience.
it has great production behind the recording.
Overall, I wish I spent my credit on something else.

Worth a listen (or read if you have the book)
The preview offered is disappointing as it is only music. It offers absolutely zero insight in to the narrator’s voice(s) as well as the story.
All in all, it’s worth listening to for $9.99 or less.
Otherwise I would wait for a sale.

Haunted houses are my favorite horror trope, but this one had a beautiful twist at the end. I sobbed at Claire’s description- that was an excellent bit of writing! Highly recommend-

A lot of fun!! Narration very well done.
***3.5 stars***
I had a ton of fun with this one. I don't typically enjoy ghost hunting TV shows as most are very cringe but despite that, I enjoyed this audiobook. The narration performances were really well done and I found myself caring for the characters and wanting to know how it was all going to end. I had to sleep with the TV on last night from getting a spook. Overall, I was entertained throughout. I recommend!
