À propos de cet audio
Gene Wilder's audiobook is the story of Lonny Serkin, a boy dealing with the curves life throws at him. With just his father and then the love of a new mother to guide him, he does his best to navigate the twin countries of humor and tragedy that he must travel through. Even Dogs Learn How to Swim is a story of growing up, deciding to move forward when all seems lost, and appreciating love when and where you find it.
Narrated by the author with a special appearance by Joie Lee.

This comic tragedy had me cry laugh out loud
This was maybe only the third book to make me cry as an adult. The first was "A Prayer For Owen Meany" by John Irving, and I don't think I'd be wrong in comparing the two as writers. Sure, Gene Wilder verges on being a little too sentimental, but the way he fleshes out the characters reminds me a lot of Irving, not to mention his quirky and often bittersweet humour. I laughed out loud many times. There is an endearing wholesomeness to this book (despite a little adult content) and the only criticism I have is that there are a small handful of anachronisms: details that just didn't jibe with the times in which the story was set. But the book was a treat, and listening to Gene Wilder's narration in particular was incredibly enjoyable. He was such a good actor, and what he could do with his voice — accents, emphasis, and cadence — is echoed in his ability as a writer. Miss you, Gene.
