À propos de cet audio
Debt of Honor ends as Jack Ryan is confirmed vice president minutes before a mammoth act of terrorism kills the President, most of his cabinet, all but a few members of Congress, the entire Supreme Court and all of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Suddenly Ryan is President, which is where Executive Orders begins.
Ryan's responsibilities crush in on him. Where should he begin? He must calm a nation, pacify world leaders, arrange a massive funeral -- while he rebuilds a government as quickly as possible. But that's not all. Enemies abroad and at home see opportunities, and they'll soon present President Ryan with an unimaginable crisis. How will he tackle his greatest challenge ever?

"Holmes writes with an easy warmth about kind people who are trying their best but messing things up anyway.... A warm and lovely romance, perfect for readers of Rainbow Rowell and Louise Miller.” (Kirkus Reviews [starred review])
“The charm of Holmes’ novel comes not only from a genuine friendship between Evvie and Dean that develops into a sweet romance but also from watching amiable Evvie stumble through the process of finding herself in a realistic way. A warm and funny book that will utterly captivate fans of Abbi Waxman and Taylor Jenkins Reid.” (Booklist [starred review])
“Holmes’ debut charms, as a young widow and a former Major League pitcher learn to begin again.... At times deeply emotional yet sometimes extremely humorous, this is a satisfying crowd-pleaser.” (Publishers Weekly)

A High Political Bar - Cleared with ease.
We could only hope that the person sitting at the peak of the US Government had half the integrity, intelligence and flat out balls as President Jack Ryan has in this story. After enjoying the lengthy story, a voting citizen must ask don't we expect and demand from our leadership skills, and abilities other than being good at the political game of Russian roulette or the Potomac Two Step.

Slow start, hot finish, relevant today
Tom Clancy's books have scared me in the past; he had a solid understanding of the societal, cultural, commercial, and industrial behavior of the world and its people. I remember reading The Sum of All Fears years ago, and getting chills with how comparable the situations developed vs. what was happening in real life at the time. Executive Orders, all these years later, is the same, and I wish I hadn't read it when I did. The themes it captures so accurately that ring uncomfortably true today include pandemic response, public paranoia, media smearing of public figures for ratings rather than truth, narrative vs. fact, command and control, hatred - both local and abroad, terrorism, and just how easy it is to make a big difference in an awful way. The parallels you can draw with the geopolitical situation of today - especially in the US - are downright frightening, and it's eerie how predictive Clancy is in his analyses when he makes the occasional 4th wall statement via a character's thoughts. It honestly felt like it was written as a warning that everyone ignored. That eerie realism is backed, as always, with extremely detailed technical background and descriptions of equipment and procedures in play. If I had to level any complaint, it would be the trope that every single character seems to have been in the service or a police officer at some point; it's almost comical! Clancy himself projects through the work as a progressive conservative, which is a political breed long since extinct in our time, to our detriment. He's never really preachy about it, it just comes across in the narrative. There are parts of the book that I did not want to read/hear, and I think that's a mark of how effective it was. A solid tale of intrigue, confidence, science, technology, warfare, and honor, wrapped up in a startlingly large cautionary tale. Yeah, I liked it.

Excellent Techno-thriller
I enjoyed this one. Not Clancy's best work...a little heavy on the political intrigue side, but good just the same. Worth a listen. 7 stars out of 10.

A tedious lecture on the superiority of America.
For me, this book marks the point where author Tom Clancy jumped the shark.
It's a tedious lecture on the superiority of all things American. At several points he stops telling the story, and launches into what can only be described as an ad for the"American way"
Skip it if at all possible..

# Audible 1
I'm new to audible & I'm still learning how to pic books that I like. I've never been a reader, so I'm completely in the dark.
I choose Executive Orders mainly because of the length & the author of the book. I have come to realize that I did not like this book at all. I found it a struggle to return to listening to this title. I found it hard to go where the narrator wanted me to go. Plus the length is not helpful at all. I think that I would like this series, where Ryan is in the field & not in the white house. I think of him as a man o action, not a politician. I'm now thinking, stories around the 12 to 16 hr. length would be better for myself. I can't really say anything more, because I only got through about 1/5th of the book.

Dry
I normally love Tom Clancy novels but this one is so hard to get through not sure if it is the narrator or the book itself.
