George Christie
À propos de cet audio
After 40 years in the Hells Angels, George Christie was ready to retire. As president of the high-profile Ventura charter of the club, he had been the yin to Sonny Barger's yang. Barger was the reckless figurehead and de facto world leader of the Hells Angels. Christie was the negotiator, the spokesman, the thinker, the guy who smoothed things out. He was the one who carried the Olympic torch and counted movie stars, artists, rock musicians, and police chief captains among his friends. But leaving the Hells Angels isn't easy, and within two weeks of retirement, he was told he was "out bad" - blackballed by his fellow Angels, prohibited from wearing the club patch, and even told he should remove his Death Head tattoo.
Now Christie sets out to tell his story. Exile on Front Street is the tale of how a former marine gave up a comfortable job with the Department of Defense and swore allegiance to the Hells Angels. In this revealing, hard-hitting memoir, he recounts his life as an outlaw biker with the world's most infamous motorcycle club.

D-Day, June 6, 1944, and the 76 days of bitter fighting in Normandy that followed the Allied landing, have become the defining episode of World War II in the west - the object of books, films, television series, and documentaries. Yet as familiar as it is, as James Holland makes clear in his definitive history, many parts of the OVERLORD campaign, as it was known, are still shrouded in myth and assumed knowledge.

Crazy!
This man has insanely large testicles. I will give him that!
Especially with the last few lines of the book... sad to hear he lost his son how he did... gotta take better care of ourselves!
Great read!

Good book
The narrator’s voice annoyed me initially because he sounds a bit like somebody trying to sound like a grizzled, old biker. Great story and by mid way I was used to the narrator’s voice and didn’t really mind it.

Great tale of the outlaw lifestyle
This book is an entertaining account of the outlaw motorcycle world. The only thing missing was the author as narrator but maybe I’m asking to much after such a harrowing life story

A fine recounting of an Outlaw's life
Christie comes off as a wise, thoughtful, albeit biased writer on the Hell's Angels and his 40 year exploits with them. The narrator's gritty tone was the perfect fit for the story. The content of the story itself was compelling enough to keep me listening, but I wouldn't consider it a classic by any stretch. Probably a good fit for anyone interested in organized crime and especially Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs, but if neither topic is of interest I would probably skip it.

The missing link between a modern and lost time
For those who may have read Hell's Angel, or some of the books by other older riders, and may be wondering how clubs went from brotherhood to business, this book fills in a lot of those details, even if speculatory, as to why and how.
I enjoyed the this listen. Covering over 40 years of life in a logical and well presented way, George Christie's comfort story telling and interacting with media comes through.
I really do recommend this read if nothing else for the years of American and international biker history it covers.
