À propos de cet audio

The Fae Magic bundle set includes all four books in the series full of non-stop action, adventure, magic, and irresistible romance.

What is magic?

My name is Saraphina Proctor...

and that’s the only thing I can remember.

I woke up alone, surrounded by darkness with no memory.

No one here knows who I am, I don’t fit any of the missing persons reports, and the doctors can’t find a single thing wrong with me…my memory…my life…they’re just…gone.

But something lurks in the shadows in Salem, watching me…waiting.

I feel its eyes on my back and my name whispered in the wind.

Even in the light of day the friendly smiles around town put me on edge.

Someone isn’t telling me the truth but I will find out what happened to me…and I think Riah knows more than his pretty mouth is telling me.

There's a story in those golden eyes of his, now I just need to get close enough to him to find out…*Disclaimer:

Fae Magic is Season Three in The Coven Saga.

So really enjoyed the story but a couple annoying things to me stood out. The author seems have a disdain for Maple syrup. Ok you established that in your first series. But of course, for continuity she has to bring it back. Ok, I’ll pass through it. But in this latest series she introduces a Canadian character from Montreal that has all the typical « lingo ». Only thing is, I’ve never heard any English speaking person on or off the island of Montreal talk this way. Point is, lack of research annoyed me a bit. Soouurry ;)

Good story and continuation - but…

Book 1:
I started out very excited based on the blurb I read for this series. The first book was silly and bad but in a fun way. There were some annoying parts but mostly the plot unfolded interestingly and the mystery aspect gave me things to think about. I think the nicknames are stupid but fine. Main pet peeve for this book was that the author tried to give Gigi and riah distinct dialects but it only shows up in the former pronouncing “about” as stereotypically Canadian (no other Canuck vibes) and riah saying “mine” instead of “my” all the time.
Book 2:
Too many characters and POVs introduced wayyyy too quickly, especially for how poorly written this series is. I don’t have a high standard for writing but my baseline is that I should not be getting so confused so quickly. I get that there are several other series in this same world that it would have been best to read first but the blurb said this could be read as a stand-alone. The book starting out with seraphim’s jumping through time while getting her memories back, combined with new characters and POVs made it really hard to track where I was in the story. This wasn’t helped, I’m sure, by the fact that there’s only one voice actor and she only makes the characters sound different in dialogue (so I often forget whose POV were in bc it’s just her voice for narrative and inner thoughts). The messy writing would have been helped by each character who has a POV chapter getting their own VA.
Book 3:
Still too many characters and povs. Honestly this whole series should’ve just been from savannahs perspective, she’s the only interesting and somewhat realistic character. Everyone else is too nice and boring. I don’t care about them. Also I don’t care about the plot. There’s no challenges or stakes for anything. The plot just happens to them and then 2 seconds later they’ve solved the problem. Everyone is just constantly pulling an ex machina and revealing they actually have the exact secret power needed, or are descended from the right bloodline, and are so smart to figure out the puzzle/riddle/problem. It’s boring. They don’t make mistakes and there’s no interpersonal growth, negatively or positively. No one has beef with each other and the soup mates just accept the bond immediate and make that person their entire focus. I just can’t care what happens to anyone but Savannah.
Nearing the end of this book all I can think is that this is just a vignette of some tumblr user’s head cannons or OCs.
Book 4:
All the main coven characters are the same. They have no personality. They’re all inclusive, understanding, and emotionally intelligent. It’s boring. When characters differ from this norm (aside from Savannah), they are so unrealistic. Like Nadia’s sister, she is unrealistically evil. Hard to believe she would’ve put any effort into caring for her children to this point if she can just do easily up and leave them. Also I’m so over all the ret-conning of the plot. So tired. The end of the book was so exhausting I just wasn’t even paying attention anymore. All these side characters that we don’t care about are dying, every other character is revealed to have an alter ego or be miraculously saved, and all these secret rules make everything just work out in the end. Honestly if this entire series was just condensed to the Savannah bits, it would be wayyy better. Her ending was also the only one that was satisfying and logical. I really couldn’t give less of a shit about any other character.

First book is decent but then it takes a dive
