À propos de cet audio
Marion and her two friends leave their private school to begin new lives. Marion is determined to be a success and become wealthy, not realizing what she will have to give up to win her goal and that it all may end up being just "fairy gold".
Fairy Gold was published in 1897 by Christian Reid, a pen name for Frances Christine Fisher Tierman, a native of Salisbury, North Carolina. Her books were published at a time when the works of female authors were not usually regarded highly, and therefore, she published under a male pen name. Although the style resembles that of Jane Austen, Grace Livingston Hill, and many of the classic authors of the 19th century, Reid’s stories have a special charm all their own. In an effort to keep the story flowing smoothly and to have a broader appeal, the book has been updated to have more modern punctuation, to take out confusing phrases, and to not be as religiously biased. However, there has been no effort to rewrite the novel or change the writing style. If it was needed because of an archaic sentence structure, even some of the punctuation may be left in an older style. But it is the story itself that draws listeners and keeps them listening to the end.
