À propos de cet audio
Alexander Madison is part lawyer, part pastor, and part con artist. When a Muslim imam is accused of instigating honor killings, Alex must decide whether to take the case that every other lawyer in town is running away from. He doesn't realize until it's too late that defending the imam may cost him the one thing in life he cares about most.
Fatal Convictions is the story of a lawyer willing to risk it all and the women who must choose between faith and love.

Jurisprudence and Theology
The plot in this Randy Singer drama involves thought-provoking elements of Radical Islamic teachings like Jihad, terrorism, rewards for martyrdom, and imposing Shari'a Law. Singer assigns a Christian American lawyer to defend a Muslim cleric on trial for conducting an honor killing (sort of like ACLU lawyers defending the KKK).
The author is both a trained lawyer and an evangelical pastor - so the themes in this story are unsurprising - but he’s also a capable writer. His vocabulary/prose is creditable, his pacing is impressive, and his description skills are commendable. The in-court back & forth in this story is well-scripted and the discussions of spiritual beliefs are profound.
Less fortunately, he succumbs to an urge to write too much action (gunfights & knife fights, for example), the characters are two-dimensional, and the "Jesus Good - Mohamed Bad" messaging often feels heavyhanded (he continuously hammers on the point that muslim women are laudable but party, sleep around, and cheat, too. They're human beings).
As to presentation: Reader Joe Hempel is undeniably excellent on this project. He occasionally betrays an "I am reading a text lying open on my lap" indifference, but the performance is solidly "above-average".
Altogether, 'Fatal Convictions' rates 8 stars out of 10. Provided that you recognize the author's biases, it's a book that will get you thinking. I am happy to have found it as a 'Plus' offering and enjoyed the distraction for a couple of wintry afternoons. If it leaves the catalog, spending a Credit on it wouldn't be crazy.
[Note: The burgeoning romantic relationship between the Christian lawyer and the beautiful Practicing Muslim girl who (of course) wants to leave her unfair-to-women faith for him is pretty contrived.. but not terrible]

Enjoyed
I enjoyed this content with radical Islam added to the courtroom drama. It was well written, even from the quasi antagonist perspective who is passionate over his convictions.
