Ce que les critiques en disent

"Narrator Clare Corbett flawlessly creates the accents and setting of Lenchester, England, while introducing Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker and her polar opposite, psychologist Georgina Cavendish.... Corbett's best creation is pathologist Clare Dexter whose eccentricities add a bit of levity. The well-rendered step-by-step procedural, with its gripping conclusion, makes for an exceptional listen." (AudioFile Magazine, review of Cavendish & Walker)

Book 2

I enjoy the crime thrillers And this friend couple works well. This one was a bit more gruesome but still a great read.
Continuing on to book 3 :)

Variably Successful Mystery-Thriller

The case itself - involving the murders of men guilty of "grooming" underage girls online - is sufficiently interesting to catch the reader's attention.. albeit nothing spectacular. The other mandate for this second entry in the 'Cavendish & Walker' series, however - development of the characters - is notably klunky. I was left enjoying the book but unimpressed with the Manchester DCI/Forensic Psychologist tandem (Whitney Walker & Georgina Cavendish are kind of relatable and kind of whiny).

Reader Clare Corbett's performance is likewise hit & miss: her diction, timbre, cadence, and pacing are impressive, her evidently interested tone is outstanding, and Podium Audio sound engineers provide exemplary technical support.. but Corbett reads too many male characters with cartoonishly "husky" voices for some reason (this would be a 5/5-star recording but for the voice-acting).

The deficiencies in presentation and limitations in storytelling render this audiobook a 7.5/10-star listening option. It was a great download for a couple of quiet afternoons as a 'Plus' selection - but your Credit could be spent better elsewhere should they ask for one.

[NOTE: I quite like author Sally Rigby's use of short chapters from the killer's POV in her books - it's a little creepy, but effective]

Look forward to more Sally Rigby books

I really like this series and Clare Corbett is excellent. My only criticism is that I felt it ended rather abruptly. The author stated that the killer’s method suggests knowledge but failed to say how that knowledge was obtained. This is a good series & I love the characters.

Enjoyed

Loved this one - the storyline felt like a good pace- the ending was wrapped up quickly but I don’t mind that at all.
