À propos de cet audio

"This satire offers a thought-provoking and scathing indictment that may prod readers to examine the more sinister possibilities of corporate - and media-dominated culture." (Publishers Weekly (starred review)

For Titus and his friends, it started out like any ordinary trip to the moon - a chance to party during spring break and play with some stupid low-grav at the Ricochet Lounge. But that was before the crazy hacker caused all their feeds to malfunction, sending them to the hospital to lie around with nothing inside their heads for days. And it was before Titus met Violet, a beautiful, brainy teenage girl who has decided to fight the feed and its omnipresent ability to categorize human thoughts and desires.

Following in the footsteps of George Orwell, Anthony Burgess, and Kurt Vonnegut Jr., M. T. Anderson has created a not-so-brave new world - and a smart, savage satire that has captivated listeners with its view of an imagined future that veers unnervingly close to the here and now.

Chilling

I listened to the audiobook which adds so much more to the book that I wonder if people who read the physical copy get the same weight put on them when they read the book.

I found the characters pretty interesting. They were vapid in a way I didn't expect but somehow that just added to how complex they were. Not just boring characters but unchallenged teenagers in a world that encourages them to bury their more complicated feelings in consumerism.

The world building was in your face. There is the high buy-in where all the new slang and new items were introduced like "meg" and the Feed itself. Much of it had to be inferred because the narrator didn't see a reason to explain a lot of things or didn't care to get into the more complicated aspects of the world until the love interest appeared.

The reader is amazing. I found the voice of Titus to be whiny enough that it really showed off how spoiled he was but also how much more there to him than his group of friends and his casual consumerism. though on feature of the audiobook I genuinely liked was the

I liked the romance. it was simple and I found it hard to not root for them. it was an interesting experience all around and I recommend anyone who wants to get it to get the audiobook.

Adding more depth to an already incredible story

This has been my favourite book for quite some time but I've never gotten to enjoy it in this way before. As an audio book many more layers are added to the story in ways I will not spoil for you now. A truly great story, fun, deep, and thought provoking.

Better than reading the print version

An engaging, fast story that makes you want to return to paper. What makes this version better than paper are all the audio clips added to the narrative. Very well produced, well timed.
