"Abdaal's enthusiastic narration resonates, inspiring listeners to become amateur productivity scientists. Informative, motivational, and entertaining, this audiobook delivers an enlightening perspective on productivity."—AudioFile
This program is read by the author.
The secret to productivity isn’t discipline. It’s joy.
We think that productivity is all about hard work. That the road to success is lined with endless frustration and toil. But what if there’s another way?
Dr Ali Abdaal–the world's most-followed productivity expert–has uncovered an easier and happier path to success. Drawing on decades of psychological research, he has found that the secret to productivity and success isn't grind–it's feeling good. If you can make your work feel good, then productivity takes care of itself.
In this revolutionary audiobook, Ali reveals how the science of feel-good productivity can transform your life. He introduces the three hidden "energizers" that underpin enjoyable productivity, the three "blockers" we must overcome to beat procrastination, and the three "sustainers" that prevent burnout and help us achieve lasting fulfillment. He recounts the inspiring stories of founders, Olympians, and Nobel-winning scientists who embody the principles of Feel-Good Productivity. And he introduces the simple, actionable changes that you can use to achieve more and live better, starting today.
Armed with Ali’s insights, you won’t just accomplish more. You’ll feel happier and more fulfilled along the way.

Our current definition of “productivity” is broken. It pushes us to treat busyness as a proxy for useful effort, leading to impossibly lengthy task lists and ceaseless meetings. We’re overwhelmed by all we have to do and on the edge of burnout, left to decide between giving into soul-sapping hustle culture or rejecting ambition altogether. But are these really our only choices?

Since you were old enough to hold a job, you've been hoodwinked to believe that wealth can be created by blindly trusting in the uncontrollable and unpredictable markets: the housing market, the stock market, and the job market. I call this soul-sucking, dream-stealing dogma "The Slowlane" - an impotent financial gamble that dubiously promises wealth in a wheelchair. For those who don't want a lifetime subscription to "settle-for-less", there is an alternative.

Most organizations and individuals work in the context of annual goals and plans; a 12-month execution cycle. Instead, The 12 Week Year avoids the pitfalls and low productivity of annualized thinking. This book redefines your "year" to be 12 weeks long. In 12 weeks, there just isn't enough time to get complacent, and urgency increases and intensifies. The 12 Week Year creates focus and clarity on what matters most and a sense of urgency to do it now. In the end more of the important stuff gets done and the impact on results is profound.

We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills that we can learn and how good we can become. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

Got what I needed, not what I thought I needed
As a productivity freak, I purchased this book thinking I would learn about more productivity tips. But the studies and tips shared here made me realize that my overloaded week was leaving me energy-less and just burnt out.
I started implementing small and big changes in my life while listening to Feel-Good Productivity and it has already contributed greatly to my life. I absolutely recommend Ali Abdaal’s book to anyone who consider themselves a hustler.

I was getting Productivity wrong.
I am a long time fan of Ali since 2019. This book is more rigorous in research and science behind productivity which is very different from a general book u will find on a book shelf! The accompanying PDF was wonderful!! I have already used tons of real applicable tools for my new year planning, work, and most importantly my 1/3/5/10 years are super inspired by his book. No doubt he delivers excellent content no matter which format, I would highly recommend you read this book because most likely you are getting productivity wrong, let him explain it to you what the right one is like!!!

Great book
Lots of practical advice that can be used right away.
Thank you for your hard work, Ali!
My take away is “to take longer healthier breaks every 4 hours”.
