Description

The New York Times best-selling author revisits his signature world of Midkemia in this first title in a new trilogy that ushers in the third, and most dramatic, Riftwar yet: the Darkwar.

Flight of Nighthawks picks up two years after Exile's Return as Pug, the powerful sorcerer, awakens from a nightmare that portends destruction for all of Midkemia. Disturbed by his dream, Pug calls for a convening of the Conclave of Shadows.

Meanwhile, in a small town on the other side of Midkemia, two young brothers are coming of age. As they travel away from home, toward apprenticeships and adulthood, the boys are attacked by bandits and mistakenly transported to Sorcerer's Isle, the home of the Conclave of Shadows.

Though they are untrained and unready, the brothers will join the powerful, mysterious Conclave to confront Midkemia's most looming evil yet - the Nighthawks, assassins feared throughout the centuries. And Pug will face his old nemesis, the evil wizard formerly known as Sidi, now Leso Varen, in a confrontation with everything at stake: his honor, his life, and the future of Midkemia.

Enjoyed the story...

One thing I particularly like is that Feist keeps the history going. The first chapter explains previous history for new readers but if you have read other books, you will remember all the older characters as they are mentioned His descriptions add more completeness to the story.
This book is the first of three so you might as well resign yourself to not learning the entire story until you read all three. He ends each book satisfactorily but doesn't tie up all the loose ends. I enjoyed this first book of the trilogy.
I am actually getting used to Peter Joyce's narration. He is English so many of the characters have an English accent which I rather like. He does use the English pronunciation of some of the words which doesn't bother me as it once did.
I think that the initial problem was having an American narrator and getting used to his interpretation of the characters and then having Peter Joyce do it differently. If you have enjoyed Feist's other books, I think you will enjoy this one.
