À propos de cet audio
Freeway Rick Ross: The Untold Autobiography is an intimate look at the day-to-day dealings of a drug kingpin in the heart of the ghetto. It's also the story of a boy born in poverty in Texas who grew up in a single-parent household in the heart of South Central, who was pushed through the school system each year and came out illiterate. His options were few, and he turned to drug dealing. This untold autobiography is not only personal, but also historical in its implications. Rick Ross chronicles the times by highlighting the social climate that made crack cocaine so desirable, and he points out that at the time, the "cops in the area didn't know what crack was; they didn't associate the small white rocks they saw on homies as illegal drugs". All Rick Ross knew was people wanted it.

In the early 1990s, Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory and his brother, Terry "Southwest T", rose up from the slums of Detroit to build one of the largest cocaine empires in American history: the Black Mafia Family. They socialized with music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, did business with New York's king of bling Jacob "The Jeweler" Arabo, and built allegiances with rap superstars Young Jeezy and Fabolous. Yet even as BMF was attracting celebrity attention, its crew members struck fear in a city.

In 2008 veteran journalist Evan Wright, acclaimed for his New York Times best-selling book Generation Kill and co-writer of the Emmy-winning HBO series it spawned, began a series of conversations with super-criminal Jon Roberts, star of the fabulously successful documentary Cocaine Cowboys. Those conversations would last three years, during which time Wright came to realize that Roberts was much more than the de-facto “transportation chief” of the Medellin Cartel during the 1980s, much more than a facilitator of a national drug epidemic.

Best I’ve read in awhile!
Very, very good book. Written from his perspective. As opposed to a bunch of non fictional facts just listed out to you. The funniest part is that it’s an old white man narrating it

Whitest narrator ever
Very inspiring story about the life of the REAL Rick Ross. This being a “freeway production” and Rick being a shrewd business as illustrated many times throughout the story it was an interesting choice to have the voice of Rick in this story be an older white guy. Made me laugh which wasn’t the intent I don’t think.

Just okay
A bit disappointing for two reasons - before this book I listened Dark Alliance, and expected more of a different perspective on the same topic (my mistake). In addition, the book is very superficial and clean, without details and shading lights on how the business actually works. It is almost unbelievable that there is no mentioning of any violence committed by his crew or violence in general. I cannot grasp running that kind of business, and being top guy, as clean as the book try to present it. Also, not a word regarding the affect on his community and people they suffered from using his product. His admission of any wrong doing is very general and comes down to few general statements.
If you are new to this subject, you may find the book insightful, however, if you had some level of knowledge about the subject, it will quickly get boring.
