A wide variety of points of view
Some of the stories are really great, beautifully pieces with Qui-Gon Jinn, Aunt Beru and Obi-Wan (both posthumously), Emperor Palpatine performing a Shakespearean soliloquy and several rebels during the battle against the Death Star.
There are however many stories that border on the unbearably boring. The book spends possibly 6 or 7 stories focused on patrons at the Mos Eisley cantina and only one of them were halfway decent, the rest were a total chore.
Also a minor complaint but, the short stories are broken up into multiple chapters per story so going back and re-listening to certain stories is going to be difficult to pinpoint.

a brilliant way to refresh star wars
I enjoyed knowing the inner thoughts of so many characters around the original movie.
It completely refreshed A New Hope for me. The extremely well per Fe r formed narrations of the point-of-view chapters range from Yoda's, and Obi-Wan's inner thoughts to those of the Jawas, Sandpeople and even the tentacled trash monster... and everything and everyone in between
This really is a great format for audiobook and I really hope they can continue this type of companion story-telling by doing it with the other movies

Very hit and miss
Some of the stories in this compilation are ok and some are terrible. I’m half way through and haven’t found one that I would call good. Wouldn’t recommend this book.

We're All the Heroes of Our Own Story
When I first saw "Star Wars" as a kid, part of what drew me so far into the story was how real the universe felt. Sure there were aliens, laser guns, a giant ball of world-shattering death and some invisible mystical energy field, but somehow it all made sense. It felt lived-in, tangible. It was a universe I felt like I could be a part of, even if the hero roles were already filled. There were more than enough niches to fill, and even the most minor, single-line characters felt like they had more going on than what I saw on screen.
It is those ordinary folks to whom "From A Certain Point of View" is so lovingly dedicated. A little red droid dreaming of a loving home. A gunnery officer who maybe should have fired on that escape pod. An old master who still longs for the wisdom of his long-dead teacher. A Stormtrooper who couldn't care less about the droids he's looking for. Through their eyes, and many others, we are treated to 40 fresh takes on an old, familiar tale.
This is an essential addition to any Star Wars fan's collection, even more so in audio format. An all-star cast breathes exuberant life into the prose (and occasional poetry) of a cadre of skilled authors. Some of the best I've seen in this galaxy far, far away.
Hilarious, heartbreaking, and more than a tad meta, "Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View" will deepen your experience of an already rich universe, and make you feel that much more at home within it.

Great collection of short stories that add depth
This book is a collection of short stories about minor characters from A New Hope. As the other reviews mention, the stories are quite varied in character, with some being much more worthwhile to listen to than others. There are definitely a few surprise cameos by characters who I didn't expect to see in the book.
There is really nothing to complain about in the performances. Generally, they do a great job. There are also sound effects and background noises/music which make the stories much more immersive to listen to.
I found that the book started off quite strong, was a bit lacking in the middle, but came back strongly towards the end. Will you love every single short story in this book? No, definitely not. But, when viewed as a whole, you will probably enjoy the book. The stories flesh out ANH and give it much more colour and life than it originally had. For instance, the Battle of Yavin stories seemed to really make it clear just how much was on the line and how much of a human cost there was to that victory.
Overall, it was an enjoyable listen, and if you're a Star Wars fan you will enjoy it.

I really wanted to like it...
Overall this was tedious. About 1 in 5 stories were interesting. Most of the stories were pointless. I love Star Wars, but I don't need to know the backstory of the bartender in the Mos Eisley Canteena.

Blahhh.
This is not only boring, it is possibly annoying. Who cares about the supporting characters of the star wars universe. The sample I listened to was ok and left me mildly intrigued. Don’t be fooled. If you want to know what storm troopers talk about on their lunch break or what sand people do in their spare time, be my guest. For me this is a hard pass. I couldn’t even tolerate listening half way through.
If you buy this after reading my review, I have no pity for you.
