Description
Winner, 2024 Good Housekeeping Kids’ Book Award
If you’ve ever wondered why Squibs are never offered a place at Hogwarts, what happened when Vernon Dursley first met James Potter, or how Dumbledore and McGonagall formed their lifelong friendship, From the Wizarding Archive should go straight to the top of your wish list. Containing 80 articles written by J.K. Rowling for the original Pottermore website and available for the first time in audio, exclusively from Audible, Harry Potter fans everywhere are in for a treat.
If there’s one thing Harry Potter fans have in common (apart from impeccably good taste), it’s questions… so many questions. From the simple details that perplex us all – was Professor Umbridge always that awful? Why don’t wizards just use phones? – to the personal details that bring us closer to J.K. Rowling’s writing process – from her least favourite school subject and its impact on Professor Snape’s career, to the personal significance of King’s Cross and why it’s always where the Hogwarts Express departs – this is a veritable treasure trove of answers.
Narrated by Evanna Lynch, Hugh Quarshie, Finlay Robertson and Lara Sawalha, and with an exclusive foreword by Evanna Lynch, this spellbinding audiobook is essential listening for any Harry Potter aficionado.
The articles in From the Wizarding Archive were originally written by J.K. Rowling for pottermore.com and remain free to read in English on wizardingworld.com. 35 of the 80 articles were originally published across three Pottermore Presents eBooks. This is the first time any of the content has been available in audio format.
Theme music composed by Sara Carvalho.
Available in Dolby Atmos on Audible.

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, is one of the most recognizable and mysterious figures in the Harry Potter series. As an unscrupulous beetle-like journalist once said, he's "a biographer's dream." Is he omniscient or limited? Is he benevolent or malevolent? What really drove him in the last years of an extraordinary life? Dumbledore dives between the lines of the Harry Potter books to create a portrait of the controversial Headmaster. We find Dumbledore's hand in every seeming coincidence and consider the impossible decisions he had to make.

The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Raised in the wilderness by her late great-uncle, Vida is a young woman with an almost preternatural affinity for nature, especially for the wolves that also call the forested mountains home. Formed by hard experience, by love and loss, and by the prophecies of a fortuneteller, Vida just wants peace. If only nearby Kettleton County didn’t cast such a dark shadow.

Annoying background music
A “true” HP fan won’t find much new in this book. It was still fun, but the background music was quite distracting and in my opinion, unnecessary.

a brilliant addition to the Wizarding World
it's bloody brilliant with knowledge that would even have stumped Hermione. There is information here to enthrall anyone who loves the Harry Potter Universe with fantastic detail to background characters and stories. it's amazing to read the detailed creations that the author used to populated her universe more authentically. I'm grateful that we also share in the creative process.

Great behind the scenes view of the magical world
A great read letting us see into the mind of J.k. Rowling and learn about the characters from her view point. It also gives a lot more depth into her magical world

Not very revealing
This book is framed as a behind the scenes looks for true hp fans. In reality, it’s more of a brief guide to the wizarding world with some occasional interesting facts. If you’ve read the books you won’t find much new. The book also felt inconsistent. It lacked on some really important parts and delved super deep into things we don’t really need to do. It was super annoying when it talks about a topic and completely forgets about something’s vital. Some of the lore didn’t make sense and it was overall pretty frustrating for a potterhead like me.
