Very good, but may need a break
Very good audio book that is quite important in the series. The only caveat is it can be very uncomfortable to listen to at times. I had to take a weeks break when I was 3/4 of the way through. The Slanesh-ness of it can get you down, or that's what I found anyway.

This book is amazing for explaining how grim he falls because he is so pompous and arrogant that he can't self-analyze himself until it is too late.

Disturbing and highly compelling
I never want to be left alone in a room with Graham McNeill. An excellent illustration of not only the fall of the III Legion, but of why anything Slaaneshi never seems to take centre stage in 40k fiction and promotional material anymore. Excellent story and narration, but not for the weak of stomach.

Gave it 4 stars. The book itself is 5 stars, but I find Fulgrim a whiney b**tch of a primarch so couldn't follow through with the full 5.

Grim Dark for the stage.
The narration felt really unsuited to the story. The narrator speaks with the life of a Shakespearean player yet tells a story which is truly grim and dark. More than a few times my immersion was broken and I lost focus on the program, requiring me to rewind back to an earlier part of the story.
The story itself is brutal, filled with the blood and carnage of the grim Dark future.

Somewhat over the top
Good book but it does become somewhat too over the top when an orchestral performance begins turning the listeners to chaos beasts. The ending at Istvan V shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that’s read the books up to here, but the level of depravity the Emperors Children are already fighting with is somewhat shocking.

A good listen
I have to agree with others Fulgrim is a bit annoying but there are many twist and turns. I enjoyed how this novel connected with previous novels in the Heresy.

Amazing!
This was the best book in the Heresy so far! Performance and story was enthralling. If you are looking for a dark story, with very well drawn characters this is highly recommended!
