Intriguing plot but...
I'm enjoying the overall story arc but there are times when things pop out that pull me out of the story; why do Capital class ships 'list' in space? If the grav gen is offline just say that and explore the implications. The space battles are mostly cool but tend to be imagined as sea battles with an up and down and the fighters fly like airplanes in space. Those are the only things that tended to pull me out of the story.

Star Wars Clone??
it is a decent book i really enjoyed listening to it and enjoyed most of the characters but being a big Star Wars fan I find that the story could be in the same universe as there is a lot of similarities. And it really didnt need to have these similarities as there is a great story here.

Space Battle
The first half is a spy and Dark ops episode. But my favorite has to be the second half with the space battle so many characters introduced and so many well.... Don't make it. I do think that Goth Sulus forces need a buff and I currently have no idea how they intend to actually win the war against the republic.

I really want to love this series...
First things first...
R.C. Bray was excellent, as normal. With the sheer amount of characters in the 2nd part, my head was spinning trying to keep up.
This was also my issue. Part 1/Book 3 was great all around. Much the same as how I felt about Book 1. In both, I had a very hard time concentrating and keeping track of characters, time lines etc.
I am hoping we will see the end of this in the next series. These 4 parts seem tho be bringing us to a "current" timeline and the story will progress from there.
Only other comment is about the similarities with the Star Wars universe...
A little too similar I think. IMHO.

perfect story for RC Bray.
fantastic story arc, great characters and I have always been a fan of RC Bray. but I am more than impressed with how well he has done each characters voices within the story.
to the authors I say Bravo, you have created something more than just an us-versus-them mentality you have created a story about individuals in a major war that you can emphasize and understand their motivations.
I cannot believe how quickly I finished this.

A mixed bag
I really enjoy much of the Legion action, but far too much of the plot and other action relies on drama and heroics enabled by incompetence and carelessness by the other side.
The fleet action in the latter half is especially bad. The many single points of failure that systems on the ships and in the fleets have are unacceptable. The entire command deck of a giant battleship sitting exposed on the exterior of the ship? External power generators for shields? Fire control cupolas? Practically no redundancy? All of these things go against common sense.
There are also very heavy and obvious nods to Star Wars, which I found rather cheap and overabundant.
None of the positives leave me wanting to continue with the series. The frustration I felt listening to it simply isn't worth it.

Good but not as good as the first book.
This installment had some good moments but random chapters became a noire first person point of view which isn't my taste and I just disliked it to the point of skipping them chapters.
