pass on this series

Save yourself and don't read the series. This was a hard squeak to get to a two star.

Based on the ridiculousness of this last book in the series I would advise you to give it a hard pass. The first book was interesting and had so much potential and I was really looking forward to things going but this one just devolved into - I don't know. What the heck happened here?

This is one of the most juvenile, confusing, randomly jumping from place to place books that I think I've ever listened to.

There are so many detailed descriptions of completely inane situations which don't add to the plot. And yet there isn't a deepening of any of the characters.

All the men are like cardboard cutouts. They love her and want to protect her and some have to get through their own biases to fully support her. Yet we don't really have any depth on how that's happening. One guy goes into his room and sucks for 5 hours and then magically deliciously has gotten over it. Seriously?

And the most frustrating thing is how this is supposed to be the goddess of the universe who can create anything and yet some random human guy shoots her in the chest and it almost kills her. Are you kidding me with this like there's not even any way to understand how that's supposed to be working.

If the humans had this much power then then then...

The entire light versus the dark god thing could have gone in so many different and interesting ways. But the most challenging thing of all was the infantile character of the female lead. This is a woman who while young, is also reawakening to the fact that she is able to hold the energy of a goddess.

And yet she acts like a 14 year old girl who doesn't get her way. It's innane and vapid and makes it almost impossible to listen to.

Combined with the fact that there are so many instances where the scene has changed but you have no idea how that happened. Weren't we just on a boat? All of a sudden we're in a castle.

How many times did I say to myself: Wait. What??

And then of course the book is interspersed with random sex scenes which aren't sexy at all.

And the dumbest thing of all was the let's have a forced hea as an epilogue with a daughter of course. Like, come on!!

I think if you are under 20 then maybe this book would appeal but not for me.
