À propos de cet audio
Cut class. Kick ass. Save the friggin world.
When college sophomore Dan Marshall's life morphs into a hybrid of Penn State and a homebrew tabletop RPG adventure, he grabs his talking two-handed sword and hits campus, seeking gold, girls, and glory.
But even with two beautiful bad-ass women at his side, how can a low-level barbarian survive when he’s pitted against a fraternity of gnolls, a dungeon full of nightmares, and an apocalyptic death cult bent on destroying the whole world?
This compilation edition chronicles Dan's epic rise to power and includes all four previously-published books in the complete series: Dan the Barbarian, Dan the Adventurer, Dan the Destroyer, and Dan the Warlord. To prevent spoilers, the above description covers only the first book.
Warning: This over-the-top adventure series contains graphic violence, undefined relationships/harem, and a foul-mouthed two-handed sword. Listen at your own risk.

Typical haremlit with machismo
Harems are a guilty pleasure...but they're not always done well.
Case in point: Gold, Girls and Glory. The main character is a nerd who wishes his life was like Dungeons and Dragons... and gets a wish from a rather surly, New York-accent genie who turns this wish a reality. Dan is now a first level barbarian with a sword that swears and tells him to grow some balls - and campus has become a world of demihumans, dungeons and gold pieces. Dan now doesn't have to do anything for D&D style plots to fall into his lap - such as rescuing the pretty neighbour girl from assassins and ending up in bed with her the same night. Within a few days, they are married - and she is pushing her best friend into bed with him as well in hopes she'll become his second wife, because that's what Barbarians do.
It's all pretty clichéd, and while the characters are interesting enough, there just isn't enough time to build up a relationship between them to make their attraction seem genuine. The relationships feel hollow and forced, which makes it hard to really feel for them. Meanwhile, the non-stop message that you need to 'man up' to enjoy life gets tiring really quick - and I'm still on book one.
This book is definitely good value for the money, but I found the story underwhelming. The voice actor, on the other hand, is doing a great job of giving different voices to different characters, and it's always nice to have a female VA during sex scenes - of which there are many. But the author needs to work on making characters deeper and having them fall in love a little slower for my tastes.
