The notorious Gotti family is the stuff of mob legend. The "Dapper Don", John Gotti Sr., and his son John A. "Junior" Gotti ran New York's powerful Gambino crime family and were well known for their flamboyant style and brutal ways, an image perpetuated in popular Mafia mythology.

John Alite, a mob hit man, associate, and close friend of the Gottis, has a very different story to tell. An Albanian-American from Queens, Alite was an unlikely ally to the Gottis and the Italian mob, but with his street smarts he was eventually recruited to be Junior Gotti's protector and muscle. For decades Alite worked as a thug, drug dealer, and murderer for Junior Gotti and his infamous father. Although he reaped the benefits of working under the powerful mob figure, Alite discovered firsthand that the legendary American Mafia - an organization that claimed to be built on honor and loyalty - was nothing more than a facade for the hypocritical, manipulative, and greedy criminals like the Gottis who ran it. A very interesting life and story.

Loved reading a first-hand account of how a powerful mob family is detailed through nepotism and stupidity and greed.

didn't care for the narrator's voice, but didn't ruin the story.

Dumb Gotti

I finished the listen in two days.I remeber the late 80s and all the press,then prison ,and him dieing early. And many years later the reality show with his obnoxious daughter. And i heard at the time that the church didnt want him in their good peoples grave yard.Not sure what happened to that ending.Its a good listen if you like 20th century italian american thugs and gangsters.
And the gentlemans club, SCORES ,mentioned in this book,also has a book here called, SCORES , written by the guy whom started it,owned it and made millions with the mobs muscle. Another good listen ànd insight into this story.....

Typical Mob Book

These books are at similar. Made Man does bad things. Made Man goes on the lame. Made Man gets caught by authorities. Made Man squeals on his colleagues. Made Man goes to jail for a short sentence. USA is the only place in the world where killers can get less than 10 years if they have cash. If they don’t? Lethal Injection.
