Another very good Harry Dresden Novel
The baddies are bad, but it a different way than before. The evil scheme has layers that you miss and then become obvious. The good guys are sort of good but got some issues. Alliances are made and not really trusted. There is sort of a sardonic humour. These things can be said about any Harry Dresden Novel.
Harry is fighting powerful ghosts because some one or some thing is stirring up the never never. The nightmare has a particular issue with Harry and his friend Michael who is a "Hand of God". Harry has to figure out who is behind this before it gets to him.
The action moves pretty good, the character development is quite good. Since this is an earlier Dresden Novel he doesn't have the backstory that always needs explaining so it moves a bit quicker than the later novels. If you like Dresden novels you will like this one.
The narrator does and excellent job bringing the material to life.

Per fucking fection.
Perfect. Just perfect. It hits you like a cheap shot in the groin. The characters the reason etc. just fucking works. Fucking funny, heart breaking and nail biting and other biting included.

Great story, mispronunciations drive me nuts.
Like the title says, the story was fun but the reader tends to mispronounce words and pause every once and awhile as if he’s lost his pace. I find it very jarring and it pulls me out of the story every time.
Don’t give up on the series though! Marsters hits his stride in later books and the series is awesome.

i love this book. great chars come to life
I had read this 4 times and each time it is just as good as the last. This is the beginning of something wonderful as far as dresden's character development.

Amazing storytelling!
Jim Butcher did it again! His Dresden series never slows down, it’s a constant build up that keeps you on the edge of your seat! I love his quick wit and deep thinking. In other words: I highly recommend this series to anyone who will listen. Oh, and James Marsters is the PERFECT narrator. He’s very engaging and the characters really come to life!
