Gurdjieff (1872-1949) was born in Alexandropol on the border of Russia and Turkey. Gurdjieff's teachings contain many concepts that, taken together, are referred to as the Work. enjoyable

Minor historical oversight: Gurdjieff was from a Pontic Greek father and an Armenian mother. He had nothing to di with the Georgians.

A succinct introduction to a great model

this book is a very accessible introduction to a very practical model for walking the tightrope dance between the desert of nihilism and the clutches of tyranny. neither of which are mentioned in "the work" but the pendulum of all thing oscillating from elation to despair and how to uncling from such rollercoasters is finely laid out.
