À propos de cet audio
"Ignorant boys killing each other," is just about all Nathan Coulter would tell his wife about the Battle of Okinawa in the spring of 1945. Life carried on for the community of Port William, Kentucky, as some boys returned from the war while the lives of others were mourned. In her 70s, Nathan's wife, Hannah, now has time to tell of the years since the war.

Wonderful
Loved it. The insight to rhythm of life, to being various different ages, about what we think we have agency over and where we actually do or don't have agency, about belonging - very much the essence of life which so many miss.
Though tne author is not a war vet himself, the Okinawa chapter is deeply insightful (and very raw for a war vet).
The narrator is fabulous. Her voice and intonation so good, and perfect for the role. I was sad to say goodbye at the end.

A warm, wonderful book.
Lovely story. Incredible how this man could really come up with a woman's point of view. The narrator voice told the story so well too. Hers was a great voice that I did not tire of. The war time narration, late in the story, was so profound and realistic. Interestingly it was the only part of the story that had ‘a swear word'. It was totally appropriate in the context! The humour was delightful and the times of sadness and longing were tangible.
My 35 year old daughter and her husband who live in the prairies, recommended Hannah Coulter to me. I could relate to the family moving away, as I am in that zone of life, and a number of my children and grandchildren live away. And sometimes I too miss them so much. I listened to the book as I cooked, sewed or cleaned…
All in all, a wonderful book, and I would enjoy reading more of this author's works. Highly recommended!
