Description
Determined to overcome a difficult past, Erica Hathaway learns early on how to make it on her own. Days after her college graduation, she finds herself face to face with a panel of investors who will make or break her fledgling startup. The only thing she didn't prepare for was going weak in the knees over an arrogant and gorgeous investor who's seemingly determined to derail her presentation.
Billionaire and rumored hacker Blake Landon has already made his fortune in software, and he's used to getting what he wants with very little resistance. Captivated by Erica's drive and unassuming beauty, he's wanted nothing more since she stepped into his boardroom.
Determined to win her over, he breaks down her defenses and fights for her trust, even if that means sacrificing a level of control to which he's grown accustomed. But when Blake uncovers a dark secret from Erica's past, he threatens not just her trust but the life she's fought so hard to create.

Series Review - Books 1-3
I was really excited to start the series Hacker by Meredith Wild. The writing was impressive. Yet, as the book series (book 2 & 3) progressed the subject of abuse and aggression toward one who had previously experienced sexual assault was presented as reasonable/ a norm. This stance was clearly presented in book three (Hardline) at the place I stopped listening. Again, please note, I’m perfectly comfortable with flawed characters. It makes the characters intriguing and can provide powerful themes. However, when said flawed characters become increasingly abusive and the material in the book clearly implies this is a norm, I can not in good conscience support the book. It’s different when abuse / dysfunction is presented as an obstacle to overcome and book material presents the journey of processing these situations in a healthier manner. Unfortunately, this book series has gone in the exact opposite direction. Book 1 was good, book 2 would have been tolerable if there was healthy processing of the abuse, which I was hoping for in book 3. Instead, book 3 has taken the stance that the abuse is a norm. I’ve included the above explanation because under this situation, I’m unable to soley rate book 1 without considering book 2 & 3. Considering the characters story is continuous and has cliffhangers, I would suggest one pause and consider investing in the series if you wish to avoid emotional triggers.
