À propos de cet audio
Hannah Morrissey's Hello, Transcriber is a captivating mystery suspense debut featuring a female police transcriber who goes beyond the limits to solve a harrowing case.
Every night, while the street lamps shed the only light on Wisconsin’s most crime-ridden city, police transcriber Hazel Greenlee listens as detectives divulge Black Harbor’s gruesome secrets. An aspiring novelist, Hazel believes that writing a book could be her only ticket out of this frozen hellscape, but her life isn’t exactly brimming with inspiration. Until her neighbor confesses to hiding the corpse of an overdose victim.
With an insider’s look at the investigation, Hazel becomes spellbound by the lead detective, Nikolai Kole, and the chilling narrative he shares with her. Through his transcription, she learns that the suspicious death is linked to Candy Man—a drug dealer notorious for selling illegal substances to children—and when Kole invites her on a covert operation to help take the dealer down, the promise of a story calls to her. As the investigation unfolds, Hazel will discover just how far she will go for her story, even if it means destroying her marriage, her career, and any chance she has of getting out of Black Harbor alive. Because if she’s learned one relentless truth about this place, it’s the fact that everybody lies.
"Narrator Angela Dawe assumes a millennial's exasperated tone, endearing listeners to Hazel Greenlee, a wannabe novelist."—AudioFile

Morrissey has gained a new fan!
An absolute joy to listen to, Hannah Morrissey has gained me as a new fan with Hello, Transcriber, the first of her three book Black Harbor series.
The series is set in Black Harbor, a crime-ridden city in Wisconsin where wannabe writer, recently employed police transcriber Hazel Greenlee listens to and transcribes its detectives’ daily reports. She’s been assigned the night shift, where she can be alone with the voices fed into her earbuds, and her very active imagination.
As she listens to his voice, she becomes obsessed with lead detective Nikolai Kole. Initially, she is attracted to his literacy and the seductive quality of his voice. Soon Kole seeks her out in her lair and begins to run his current case with her. Very quickly they start working together on the child murders and the drugs killing them, doled out by the Candy Man. As Kole and Hazel accumulate clues and begin to solve the case, their mutual attraction becomes sexual.
This audiobook is utterly delightful, with language that is a pleasure to read. The dialogue is natural, the character development is outstanding, and the storyline is complex and contemporary. I highly recommend it.
Angela Dawe is an excellent narrator for this work. Her crisp precise enunciation is ideal for the character of Hazel. Her vocal contribution to this work is priceless.
