Description
But things don't go as planned. Plagued by a heroin habit, forced to go on the run after the only credible witness to Victoria's murder is accidentally killed, wanted by both the Colorado cops and the Ulster police, Alex struggles just to stay alive.
Gritty, with spot-on dialogue and black humor, Hidden River is a dynamic thriller.

Great story, great reader
This is a great listen, and if you haven’t read any other Adrian McKinty books I highly recommend them all.

Don’t waste your time
The story was ridiculous so many holes in it even keeping in mind all crime stories have a few holes. The narrator could not read to save his soul.

Love Adrian McKinty, But This Was A Hard Slog
The Sean Duffy series were all five star reads for me with riveting plots and complex characters. For that reason, I was looking forward to hearing about Alexander Lawson, a secondary character in the Duffy novels. Sadly, the literary magic present in those books is missing for most of this book.
For the first time, the plot feels contrived in a number of places. The dialogue is overly wordy with phrasing that sounds like a 50's detective movie. In fact, much of the dialogue does little to advance the plot, nor does it add to our understanding of the characters. At least three times I thought about giving up. I was glad I didn't because the final chapters showed the kind of story telling that makes me admire McKinty's writing. I just wish a ruthless editor would have chopped through the extraneous chatter.
If you haven't read anything by this author, give this one a pass and get his Sean Duffy series which will give you many hours of listening pleasure. If you are a McKinty fan stick this out until the end.
