I very much enjoyed this book.
This was a good story and quite a journey. It evoked a lot of emotions, I was a little worried about the grieving aspect, but it was exceptionally well written and super relatable. I loved, loved, loved the age of the main characters and that they were both experiencing this awakening together. I found that rather perfect, and not often done. All of the characters were amazing and I loved them - real, honest, strong, relatable women. Oh, and the slow burn was very much worth the wait! The sex was hot! The narration was well done and oh, what a voice!!!

Enjoyed this Story
I liked that it was a slow burn and Stella was complex. The story had good pacing and I liked the love interest

Warm, feel good book
I really like this book for realistic perspective on loss and grief, therapy, and difficulties navigating new relationship later in life. I enjoy Emily Waters' style in general and will buy anything she writes. Narration was a bit slow, but speed can always be adjusted

beautiful
I really love this story. It deals with the complexity of grief well. The missing someone while trying not to feel guilty about acknowledging they aren't perfect. How hard the feelings are to face and process. How sometimes who is there for you in times of crisis is a surprise and a beautiful discovery that can change you.
I really liked, too, how gradually we see how Elizabeth was getting more from her transforming relationship with Stella than it first appears from the beginning despite Elizabeth appearing to do all the work in the early days of the novel because of how non-functionally depressed Stella was at the start of the novel. It's a good reminder that if you feel like you're taking more than you give to a relationship sometimes you don't see what you're giving to someone else. So I say to anyone grieving: if someone wants to be there for you do your best to let them rather than pushing them away. Being trusted to be someone's support is a gift in itself and a balm to the soul.
