À propos de cet audio
A recovery and growth handbook for anyone who feels empty - but doesn't know why.
Ten questions to ask yourself, right now:
- Do you have a sense that something is wrong, but you don't know what it is?
- Do you have a feeling that you are hollow inside, that you are empty or have a void within?
- Do you react badly to rejection?
- Do you often feel sad, unhappy or down for no obvious reason?
- Would you describe yourself as highly sensitive?
- Do you have problems with relationships and intimacy?
- Do you engage in addictive behaviour - alcohol, drugs, gambling, shopping, food, sex, work, exercise?
- Do you have low self-esteem or self-worth - are you not 'good enough'?
- Do you have a sense of being numb to your feelings?
- Do you rarely experience true joy and happiness?
If you have answered yes to most of these questions, there is a strong chance you have experienced emotional neglect or trauma as a child. An emotionally neglected child may struggle to form strong and secure attachments as an adult. They may feel hollow or empty, worthless (or overly important), judge themselves harshly and struggle with addictive tendencies - drinking, eating or exercising too much, for example. If this describes you, Heal Your Inner Child will change your life and give you back the love, compassion and authenticity you needed as a child and deserve as an adult.
Former heavy-drinker-turned-sobriety-coach Simon Chapple is - like you - a survivor of childhood trauma. His unique brand of straight-talking, practical yet reflective and relatable advice has helped thousands of people quit drinking, and he can help you now to move on from childhood emotional neglect to a place of happiness free from past trauma. How to Heal Your Inner Child is a stepped and safe approach to confronting your past, with space for reflective and supportive strategies that will help you to foster self-compassion and break free from the destructive behaviours that have blighted your life. Clinically endorsed and verified by a psychotherapist, this deeply personal, unflinchingly honest exploration is designed to unlock your own epiphany and support you as you journey to a happier, less troubled and more authentic self.

Most people don't realize how much unresolved emotional pain they carry around. They don't know why they always feel depressed, anxious, victimized, or disappointed. They wonder why they keep making the same self-sabotaging impulsive decisions. These patterns often stem from their lost inner child, which carries a false narrative that has been on repeat since childhood.

Do you struggle to find happiness in yourself or in your relationships? Do you have issues with your physical or mental health such as fatigue, anxiety, sleep problems, addictions or depression? Do you feel emotionally numb, or are you unable to truly feel your emotions? You are not alone. And maybe you need to stop blaming yourself. We are all affected by our early experiences both good and bad. But for many of us, the patterns of our younger years have damaged us as adults, leaving us unable to truly feel or form lasting positive relationships with ourselves and others.

Most people are familiar with PTSD. But many have not heard of complex PTSD and developmental trauma disorder. As adults, many of us experience symptoms of anxiety and depression. We feel chronically stressed. We have trouble trusting others, or we may even experience feelings of paranoia in our relationships with others. We struggle to define what it is that is bothering us, and we struggle to find ways effective ways to treat it.

Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

If you grew up with an emotionally immature, unavailable, or selfish parent, you may recall your childhood as a time when your emotional needs were not met or dismissed—and you may have lingering feelings of anger, loneliness, betrayal, and abandonment. As an adult, you have fought hard to establish your own sense of self, and heal the wounds caused by your upbringing. But what about other emotionally immature people (EIP) in your life? As an adult child of an emotionally immature parent (ACEIP), you may be particularly vulnerable to EIPs.

Excellent help for healing one’s past!
This book gave me amazing insight into understanding why I react so badly to various triggers as an adult, by examining what happened in my childhood. It then gave me concrete strategies and exercises to move past blaming my parents. It took me a while to work through it all, but I feel that I am on my way to finding peace. Simon’s voice is soothing and calming. I felt like he was there with me, helping me work through painful events of my childhood. He also is helping me deal with day to day issues.
This book is for anyone who wants to get clarity on what really happened in their childhood and why it is affecting you now. Tons of information and help is here.

Brilliant
Simon uses a very simple yet effective way of delivering all the information in a calm none preaching manner. He sets up each chapter by explaining what it is, how it effects ourselves and others, and ways to deal with it. Then he gives strong personal examples to show how the tools he has learned along his journey of healing helped him. Definitely could have used this 30 years ago.
