"A masterfully conceived mystery. I barely looked up until I'd devoured every word." (TheSlaughteredBird.com)
Seventeen-year-old Lisa Jacobs is determined to solve her father's gruesome murder. But before she can investigate in her own small town, she is forced to spend the summer with her Uncle Clayton, the owner of Grand Hallow - a massive funeral and mortuary operation the size of a small city. Her move to Grand Hallow only deepens the mystery as she begins to suspect the strange and chilling occurrences there are linked to her father's death. With the help of her acid-tongued best friend and deadbeat brother, Lisa must unravel the secrets of Grand Hallow - before it's too late.

Not the worst
First, this is a YA novel. I didn't know that going in. So, just so you know.
It could have done with a stricter editor and a a bit of chopping down. The story was a little simple and a little far fetched, even for the supernatural-horror-YA genre. People make really silly decisions. The world building isn't so great, and the characters were all kind of one-dimensional, some verging on being caricatures.
It was entertaining enough, I guess, but it just wasn't very good, and the ending, despite being fairly neatly tied up, was kind of abrupt and unsatisfying.
Also, the narrator pronounced "then" (and every other word with a similar E sound) to rhyme with "pin." Like, "simatary" for cemetary, and so on. In the ind, it drove me a little nuts.
