À propos de cet audio

A gruesome case of grave-robbing lands on Detective Constable Emma Bellamy's desk. But is there more to it than meets the eye?

Being the sole police detective in London's Supernatural Squad is no easy task. I have to navigate my way through a world teeming with supernatural creatures, from vampires to werewolves and everything else in between. My inexperience might count against me but my own shocking supernatural abilities will stand me in good stead - especially when I'm confronted yet again by the gruesome spectre of death....

A vampire has been mysteriously killed in the centre of the city.

Werewolf graves have been plundered for their bodies.

And I think I might be developing an ill-advised crush on a certain black eyed vampire Lord.

Infernal Enchantment is the second book in the thrilling Firebrand urban fantasy series. If you like dark twisty mysteries, smart heroines, and the faintest touch of slow-burn romance, then you'll love Helen Harper's mystical adventure.

The vibe and the pace of this sequel are similar to what we got in the first book, minus the weird twist at the end, so overall I liked it better than the first book.

Emma has been working as the lead (and only) detective in the Supe squad for 6 weeks now. With the help of Fred and Liza, she is trying to build relationships with the werewolves and the vampires, but it proves hard as the supes tolerate her, but still don’t want the police to get involved in their business. In this second book, Emma is asked to investigate the death of a young werewolf that occurred a year ago. The weird thing is that his body is no longer in the cemetery where he was buried, and the more she asks questions the weirder it gets as Emma realizes that other bodies have disappeared in the past years, and nobody seems to know how or why. As if that is not enough, Lord Horvath comes to Emma with a request to investigate the murder of one of his vampires and find the culprit, and it eventually becomes evident that all those events are connected.

While the intrigue and pace are good and it’s easy to get into this book, I have to admit that Emma has a shitty track record when it comes to solving mysteries without dying. She dies a lot and while I like how it allows us to know a little more about her powers, I hope that this will not become redundant and that she will not die 2-3 times in each book.

This book introduced us to Deverau Webb, a cunning gang leader with a hint of Robinhood in him. Known as “The Shepherd”, he and his flock steal from richer tourists and use this money for them, but they also give to charities, so I guess that makes it okay in their book. He is an intriguing character that’s for sure, and I know that he has his own spinoff series that takes place after the third book of this series so I am very curious to see what he will bring to the plot and how he will interact with Emma in the future.

Poor Narration

Cant get past the narration. Love all Helen Harper books and I've tried to still listen online but I can't get past the dislike for the narrator. Will buy these on kindle and read rather than listening.
